    Timing belt, don't have a 32mm wrench

Some of the write ups I have seen say you need a 32mm wrench to take the fan off to do the timing belt, I don't have one, but i do have a 1 1/4 wrench (which if I am not mistaking is very close) will this work or do I need to go track down the proper wrench? Starting the t-belt service tomorrow after work.

I've managed to do it with channel locks before but it's not easy. I actually just cut a 32mm square out of the end of a piece of flat stock steel and use that. Hit it with penetrating oil before hand then put the wrench on and smack it with a hammer to jolt it loose, remember it's reverse threads when you do it.

I used a retardedly big adjustable wrench my first time around, it works just fine once you get everything else out of the way. You can get away with what you've got, but the best tool for the job is a "head wrench." Go to a bicycle store and ask for one. It's very thin and gives you plenty of space to get in there and break the fan loose.

Just pull the WP with the fan on it. There's plenty of access to the bolts with the fan on. Grab the impeller in a vise and use a large crescent wrench to undo the fan nut.

I did it with a huge pipe wrench and adjustable wrench. Once it's popped loose it'll finish coming off by hand, just watch the radiator is all.

If you remove one of the M6 bolts, you can fit a big Crescent wrench in there.

Or you can find a local bicycle shop. Thin 32mm wrenches are common in bike repair shops and shouldn't run you more than $10 or so.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I ended up using the 1 1/4 and it worked. I ran into a snag, I decided to ignore it until I now (I am almost back together) when taking the radiator out the wires on the sensor (I'm guessing temp sensor for the fan?) were so brittle they broke from barley touching them.

                  What do I do now?

I guess i can strip the wires and grab some connectors or something, which wire goes where though?

In the future if you're stuck a park tool headset wrench from a bike shop is perfect. Any good shop will have a 32 mm spanner. And it's nice and slim.

I believe the middle wire is ground, one side is low speed one side is high speed. Should be able to match up the colors.

I went and bought a 32mm craftsman wrench the first time I had to do this. Ground it down a little to fit and never looked back. I hear bike shops usually carry a 32mm slim wrench for post collars too.
