the point that you missed is that supra engines run at different temperatures, have different tolerances, different lifters, chain driven(not belt) and are turbo'ed. All of these are factors in to which you must account for when getting the correct oil for the job. that's like saying because my oil works in my Civic it will work in my Porsche... - completely wrong conclusion.

I really don't want to start an argument on this, there is plenty of information for and against all types of oils

I was simply posting what I use, my reasoning behind it, and that I know people who have modded cars that run exactly what I'm using

Use whatever YOU think is best. Remember the question was what oil do you use, not what oil is best.

It does when these supra's run 700-1100HP DD/track and use the stuff with great benefits with wear, adequate oil pressure, and superb lubrication.

So yes.. to DD any 700HP car reliably would be the epitome of reliability.

Supra is not reliable with a stock 2jzgte past about 550-600rwhp; the ones that pull huge numbers on stock engines are dyno queens. The standard engine can take burst pulls of 1krwhp for dyno bragging only.

700hp+ 2jz units are built monsters. Even then ive torn down a 2jz with damaged forged cp pistons......anything can happen at 700++

Supra 2jz is belt driven.

For street use any oil between 5w30 and 20w50 is fine in a 2j. It doesn't care that much

Did you have to buy 20w50 weight online?
Everywhere I go, I can only find 15w40 weight diesel oils, and I'd much rather run 20w50 diesel

Nope, luckily for me the advance auto parts down the road carries three different brands of 20w50 :)
it's right off a high-way, so they probably sell a lot of diesel oil. Must be lucky!

read the owner's manual it tells you what oil to run based on the temp. and unless it's winter and below freezing. 20-50 is the best. and 5-30 is never to be used. there are many dyno runs to show that 20-50 non-synthetic is the best for your M20

Those charts are based on oil formulas from 20+ years ago. They are fairly meaningless when a modern synthetic 15w50 will outperform a 10w30 from 1986 in any condition for twice as long.

The fact is a synthetic 15w50 flows far better cold and protects just as well (if not better) hot as a 20w50 mineral oil. M1 15w50 also happens to have plenty of zddp and i can get it in a cheap jug at walmart.

Also, no need to change every 3k. You are just wasting money. An oil analysis would make more sense than an abritrary value based on oil formulas from the cold war era..

that is way too damn thin for your 150k+ motor. it will just foul up the system.
