what's is the change that 19lbs injectors could be sufficient for 2.9L? I already have brand new 19lbs units ready to go. Would it make more sense to go with 24lbs from the get-go and sell 19s while they are still brand new?

19s will be close to the limit based on previous experience.
You'll make less of a loss selling new and getting 24's if you end up needing them.89 E30 325is Lachs Silber - currently M20B31, M20B33 in the works, stroked to the hilt...

Quite generic question... It all depends on how much hp your engine is producing.
For example my 2.8 litre M20 racing engine would not work even with 24lb injectors on gas. Currently running with 46lb Bosch EV6 injectors from Volvo (the green version) on E85 fuel. And they are not overrated at all. Engine produces 259hp from crank.
But if you have std cam and std compression, 24lb could be just ok.

24lb at 3b will do 260 hp on pump gasoline, mine was doing about that (220whp) with 80-85% duty cycle. Which means 19lb would be on the limit. A 2.9L should do somewhere near thatLast edited by digger; 10-06-2018, 04:59 AM.89 E30 325is Lachs Silber - currently M20B31, M20B33 in the works, stroked to the hilt...

Mustang Blue Top Injectors will work in most setups.
0280150947 also cross references with Ford #0280150947
However, I recently was working on one 2.9L ITB setup and it was around %90 duty cycle with the blue-tops. Like Hasa, I had to go with a bit more (ended up with 30pounders). Engine dyno'd at 258whp on 91 octane.
As for a reputable source, I have used Five O on several engine builds. They have been great to work with. Don't hesitate to email them questions either.

They will physically work. Although the clips for the fuel rail won't go on those. Some people don't use the clips and arent bothered by that but I prefer to keep them as a indicator that they have seated inside the rail properly and some added redundancy incase one wants to slide down into the runner boss further and potentially unseating from rail
Im not sure what these were originally used on I try to get ones from a 2V per cylinder engine as the spray pattern is usually more suitable (ie doesn't spray onto port walls which encourages liquid fuel to form on walls)89 E30 325is Lachs Silber - currently M20B31, M20B33 in the works, stroked to the hilt...

Do the benefits of the older 2 valve per cylinder type injectors outweigh the improvements designed into the EV6 injectors with the four hole disc or are some of the EV6 injectors designed for 2 valve motors too? I am a bit confused. I think that the spray pattern is cone shaped and can vary from narrow to wide (approximately 10-30°) but what is best for our two valve motors?Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience. -Mark Twain

The not-too-fast turbo calc suggests that a 2.9L at 7000rpm 100% VE at 12.8:1 with a maximum duty cycle of 85% makes about 258hp.
This apparently requires injectors of 250cc/min which is about 23.4lb/min which seems to agree with the evidence already suggested in here.
The not-too-fast calc is a fairly rough guide but It suggest the 24lb would be borderline.

You can get 4 hole to. Something with single spray ( some 4v have split spray to go into each port so try to avoid, engine still runs but why not put some thought and not random parts is my thought process ) about 15-20 degrees will hit valve only and minimise fuel spraying onto the walls.
If you speak to guys pushing the fuel injector stuff to the max then large injectors spraying directly into cylinder within the intake process only( ie not fuel hanging around on closed valves) is worth a decent amount of power and fuel savings . This means highly developed injection timing maps. You need to run around 30-35% max duty to do it (220 effective cam degrees out of 720) . I've though about a set of ID 1050x for mine but I need a better ecu first and to check mounting options.
Injectors close to the valve don't have time to atomise and if lands on a surface where atomisation is lost what good is it. Atomisation is more important on injecting at runner entry where there is much farther to travel and more time.89 E30 325is Lachs Silber - currently M20B31, M20B33 in the works, stroked to the hilt...
