I just installed th design 3's and a 027 AFM. I didn't think that the injectors were seated right so I messed with it for a while, they were right but I tried putting the injectors in first then the fuel rail. Didn't work I had to put them on the rail first then put them in.
Car started first turn and I drove full throttle almost all the way home. I have never heard that sound out of an E30. Maybe cause I actually bought a K&N this time and not a $10 ebay cone.
I am on my way to the junk yard to pick up the other 027 for $20 in case I ever need it for another swap.

My car idles like shit with the 027 AFM, and I've swapped out 3 different ones. Maybe my car just doesn't like it :(

I had a 1222 code with mine when I first got it in and an occasional check engine light , my problem was a leak between the throttle body and afm causing un metered air in the system , once that was solved , to get it to Idle correctly , I had to adjust the wheel , but I am also running stock injectors and it pulls alot harder . there is a very good write up from a bmw repair shop that goes in detail about adjusting this afm and recalibrating it , I can't seem to locate the link , but it was right on and I am also running an 027 . You can pull it up on google if you type in " adjusting m30 afm" I am pretty computer illiterate so I don't know how to post the link. But the gist of it is to accuratly adjust the afm , you do it with the reading you get from the o2 sensor with a multimeter.

I noticed mine does idle a litle rough. But it screams when floored. I did the swap 3 days ago so I will give it more time. Plus my friends don't notice but they only know how to start a car and drive it.

I let it idle for about 30 minutes after installing the M30 AFM, and then drove it to work and back to give it a good workout. Is there something I'm missing?

your not the only one! same here! just installed it yesterday.
i think once i install the 19# injectors it will be fine.

              am i right?

Ok so its been a month since i did this install with a 027. My car sill doesn't idle that good and if i am at a low RPM in a gear like 3rd at 1,000 RPM it surges and I have to down shift, it will run smooth at a higher RPM though. Most of my driving is at 30 KPM(18MPH) so it is bothersome.

I have heard that the 027 without the 19#er's will make it run lean. I have a euro spec 325i and I do'nt think I have a check engine light. I have a check panel but that is only for the oil, coolant lights and stuff like that. I can't even do the fuel pedal stomp methat to check for codes

update, my car runs and idles very good now, i tightened the wheel one notch just to smooth things out a little(which is still 1 notch looser than stock), throttle response is perfect, no bogging at all it just revs as soon as i touch the throttle, the car pulls amazing uphill(no other car i've EVER driven can go up mt. rose highway on cruise control with out downshifting),i only get the occasional check engine light with the 1222 code. My car has the mark d chip. only problem with this upgrade is if you unhook the ECU, it has to relearn,(which takes around 5 starts, and 50miles worth of driving to get it perfect.)

my car loves it. I'm prototyping a cold air intake similar to the gruppe m. Here is what the bracket looks like. Just need to finish molds for the filter housing.

1000rpm is a bit low, are you used to driving around at 1000rpm?
