On my M30 swap we used the later model M20 wiring harness on the M30B35. the easiest way is to match the harness to the motronic you're running.

M30B35 = Motronic 1.3 (use the LAter M20 wiring harness and extent some wires)

M30B34 = Motronic 1.0 (use the earlier M20 harness and extend some wires)

Or save yourself the headache and just find m30 5 sp wiring harness.

The m30 5sp harness would need to be from a b35 though...

Just upgrade the B34 to 1.3. It's simpler and it runs better. You'll need an o2 sensor, 60-2 balancer and the crank sensor for a B35, 179 ECU and a harness that will accept the 179.

I'm using a harness from an 87 325i and I already extended the all the necessary wires. Its just the injectors plugs are kind of out order and just need to verify that.

After '87 the injectors got put into a plastic housing. In '87 they have the correct ECU plug, and the injector wires are open. Before '87 the ECU plug ans't correct to fit a 179.

I'd lay the harness out and the injectors plugs pretty much fall into place. Some may even still have the #'s on them. They will pretty much only reach where they're suppose to go.

Yes, some of the plugs have a yellow tag with a number. Is that the cylinder number?

Yessir. I'd match those up, then the other fall into place, deductive reasoning. All of the wires should have the # on it, but they get lost over 20+ years.

'87 and early '88 is the easiest harness to use for sure.

depends how competent you are but for newbies this is easiest

I have never done a swap before so the learning curve was steep

it shouldn't be hard to identify them even with the numbers gone. the #1 and #6 are the longest and the 3 injector connections with the blue and brown temp sensors are obv for cylinders 1,2,3. Im using an m20 harness

Later ones too, but you have to tear apart that damn plastic housing. doesn't look as pretty, unless you can get a B35 injector cover.

Injectors are fired in two batches of 3s. The easiest harness is the one that came on the engine, the e32/e34 harness, will stand by this statement to my grave :)
