No oil going to the head?

Hey everyone, long story short blew a head gasket, car sat for a little while and when I got it all put back together, the engine was very loud, found no oil going to the head nor oil in the filter. While everything was taken apart I did change the oil pressure relief value to the newer style one, other than that anyone know what else could be a possible problem? Thanks for the help

I had that happen when I did the sump at the same time- the pump lost prime.

I ended up having to loosen the filter housing to get the pump to prime, put the housing
back on with the filter cap off, make an unholy mess, and THEN it would finally pump oil.

After that, it ran like crap AND noisily for 15 minutes or so because I let the lifters bleed down.

5 years and 50k after THAT, it's still fine.

oil pump and relief needs to be primed. somewhere during the R&R you let an air bubble into the pump and now it can't move oil.

A year or so back, there was a suggestion on how to prime it that was less messy
than what I did.... but I couldn't find it with a quick glance.

I think pouring some oil into the filter housing (the outer part not the center tube) and letting it seep back down into the oil pump may help prime. My oil filter housing is never brimming with oil when I do an oil change, so either my drainback valve in the housing is leaky or there's some small amount drain back to the bump there. Also, with the filter housing removed the upper of the two stacked square ports (see picture) is the pump discharge, oil can be squirted directly into there while turning the engine by hand to prime the pump.

Hey everyone, thanks for all the replies. It seems as if the pump still does not want to prime, or maybe not doin it correctly and I am stuck at the moment, still.
