The mounts are pretty simple to fabricate yourself also, just requires some time and patience..

Yea I bet, been thinking of SC my cabrio also but luckily have been able to resist.. way too expensive and the power I've now is enough for a drop-top... :D

(and S62 engines are getting pretty cheap also these days....)

Too many options, maybe I should just start a new project :D

Just came across these on ebay, good headers to start with on a swap, no affiliation

There's a lot of stuff we're doing that won't work on a street application. For example, a cockpit-mounted dual master cylinder w/balance bar. Picture attached.

Well, I guess my build is a hybrid then, because I'm using the new Wilwood cantilevered triple MC setup in mine and it won't see track time, Lol! I decided on this pedal setup a long time ago to get the brake system out of the engine bay and be able to control the bias a little better, too. With the V8 being so wide, this setup just made more sense to me. I don't dislike the remotely mounted booster/MC setup I had started with originally, I just think the Wilwood setup will look cleaner under the hood and function far better and be way more adjustable...

Yup, those are what I have already... those and the 4.4L X5 ones are the only OEM ones that will work. Paid way less than that for mine, though. I want to see what Bruce has fabbed up...

Well...in the interest of getting this car on-track, I think modified stock manifolds will be the version 1 exhaust. Is there a material difference between the X5 and 540i manifolds? Can I use any of the e34/e32 manifolds that I have in-hand?

I'm intrigued by the Wilwood pedal setup. Which exact pedals are you using, and how are you integrating them into the (non) structure of the car? After a couple of iterations, I'm pretty satisfied with the rigidity of our setup, and it retains the stock brake pedal. However, I'm always interested in a better mouse-trap.

Bruce, I don't know about any materials differences in the manifolds, I can only speak to the E39 versions... they are double wall like the E32/E34 versions, but the drivers side is 4 into 1, which will clear the column. The passenger side is 4-2-1. The E32/E34 manifolds are split pairs and neither of those bodies used a rack/pinion, so there was no column interference issues. I believe the E39 versions are easier to come by, but can't hurt to search for both and see what turns up...

The pedal assembly is Wilwood's new adjustable pedal pad version, #340-11299. I don't know if you're aware, but my build has a full cage, so it's being tied into the dash bar, beneath/inside the dash. I'll use the remote reservoirs, mounted under the hood. Should be pretty painless and like I said, the adjustability should make it worthwhile. I'm still in the process of finishing the cage, so I don't have any pics of it installed yet, but I do have a pic of what inspired me to do it...

That's the V10 E30 M3 Piper Motorsports built a few years ago... same idea, different pedal assembly...

Bruce, I don't believe e32/e34 manifolds will clear like the X5 stuff. Possibly you can make e39 stuf work though...

Yes Jean, the E39's will work as well... that's what I have and have mocked them up with the mounts and column in place and no issues. BTW, the mounts showed up yesterday... thanks!
