OK so I have done a Shit-ton of reading and have put together a lot of notes and pulled a little from every build thread I've come a cross.
Kind of surprised by the lack of real detail. (I'm not saying you guy aren't doing it right) I'm just saying I'm having problem finding answers for question I have, question I figure would be asked often almost noob'ish

I have realized that this is not a build for the faint of heart..

I will do this but I have started to question myself and decisions. I need a little clarity on some things before I can move forward.

So I haven't bought the 98 M62b44 yet. I'm reading and finding information that's make my decision hard..
          1. Everybody want the (Alusi) instead of (Nikasill) blocks so you have less of and issue of blow-by and seem to have a longer life span.
"The 98 M62B44 Has it"
          2. This need for the (Alusi) block over (Nikasil) pushes you in to the (EWS) system. "The 98 M62B44 Has it"

          3. Full harness out line from people who have done this swap is vague at best..

~So I seem to have all my questions answered except a few which I'll ask you..

1st. Should i buy this! It seems to be perfect M62b44 with full harness and ECU??????

          2nd.
Have they figured out how to get around the (EWS) issue on the 98
wire harness and ecu. (I'm calling the seller tomorrow to get the last 3 numbers from the box tag)
None the less if I buy this 98 M62B44 with Most likely (EWS) Is there a way around this?? and whats the cost??

3rd. Is there a full write up on the swap of the hole harness. Connectors and where to put stuff ect.
This is my biggest worry. I hate electrical and the thought of rewiring a full fuel injection in to a car scares the crap out of me!

HELLO... If you want to make a quick buck off a Noob I'm willing to pay to have some one come and build me a harness /teach me how, with what I have....
I telling you I don't even swap radios ....

Other than that I think I have a pretty good idea what I'm going to do.

Looking for feed back good or bad...

          thanks guys...

EWS is the same than in M52 / M54 (depending on year model), there's tons of info on passing EWS on them so no big deal.

What comes to wiring, it's something that requires time and wiring-schematics reading to get it right. There're some short guidelines on the subject, but mostly it should ALWAYS be done in a way that the car builder understands what goes where etc etc.. That makes the (probable) troubleshooting much, much easier.
What I'm saying is, all wiring schematics are available online - take your time and go through them in detail. :)

Any OBDII tuner should be able to disable the EWS.

VANOS doesn't get you much more torque on the 4.4, so you're not missing out on anything there. Plus it will be so much simpler to get running. For $900 I'd say go for it.

each one has cons/pros... TU has a water cooled alternator as well, and you have the coolant pipes/hoses that use snap rings with internal o-rings vs hose clamps...so you'll need to get creative there as well.
