So I was able thankfully to save my weighted shift rod...

It looks bad in the picture it got munched hard sadly but thankfully I was able to repair it to it's splendid glory.. Out of all the carnage this was the one thing that bothered me the most... I dreaded making another one and I was so proud of it when I first built it..

When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like the passengers in his car.

How much of a difference does the weighted rod make?

tons... this linked with an AKG it makes our stock trans box feel and shift like racing boxes...

IF you get the right weight the throw is firm but effortless...

Is that a crack I see in the countersink for the middle hole? It's right in the middle of the small patch of glare from the light (flash?)

              will a Z3 e36 328 driveshaft work?
I found 1 or 2 there Z3 with the 328 motor and manual trans and the sticker on the shaft it self say E36?
              are the lengths the same?

No, it's over an inch shorter. You can look up the lengths of the drive shafts on realoem.com, bmwfans.info, etc...

You need something 1275-1285mm with a 4 bolt rear flange and a 96mm diameter / 12mm bole hole flex disc. e36 328i, e30 m3, and 5/86+ 325e (they can be hit or miss...) should work. I don't know of any others.
                85 325e m60b44 6 speed / 89 535i
                e30 restoration and V8 swap

                  Would a 4 bolt e46 m3 driveshaft work?

The e36 csb doesn't work anyways. Need to install one backwards from an e30.

Got the drive shaft and under car completely broken down and awaiting ordered parts.
should all fall back together quite easily.
                            Can't wait.
Sadly after this weekend I will be working straight for the need 6-8 weeks
which includes a trip to Canada, then Scottsdale, then a Palm Springs before I get some time to myself, not to mention some were in there I will have to fit in a Birthday weekend at Legoland. My little guy is turning 6yrs old...

I may not have it road worthy till the November...ugh
