I don't have the pics on this computer, but it's in my build thread with a part number. Now that I have driven it a while I would say the pedal effort is higher than your typical import clutch, but lighter than a stock fox body mustang. If the address below doesn't work search this forum for "1988 325is swap attempt".

currently talking to rosehill but being in Australia it's only 1 email a day and extremely hard to explain via email. He seems to think I should be receiving a lot more than 18mm of slave travel as well...

He suspects air but I've bled this system so many times, I showed him a picture and he thinks its a weird set up to bled so any comments on what i should do differently?

Also when i disconnect the rod (so the slave isnt pushing the clutch) i still only get 18mm of travel, i thought this would rule out air in the system as the measurement doesn't change between the slave pushing itself and pushing the force of the clutch?

        thanks guys

yeah, doesn't sound like an air issue to me.

how much can you get one of those datsun slave cylinders for in oz? that's what i'd spring for as long as it's cheap; i've seen a bunch of comments about using the datsun slave on mustang forums (been looking at buying a 'stang lately)

            not to expensive from memory.

how long are the slave cylinders? the ones i keep seeing look tiny and not possible of producing 40mm of travel.

yep that's the one. will the parts store let you return it if it doesn't work? might be worth a shot dude, what do you have to lose; 2 hours of your time?

i'll post a pic of the bleeder wrench i made to get to mine, i can't imagine this one is much easier to get to than the CNC one

The pushrod can't travel any more than the full stroke of the slave cylinder, it's physically impossible. That little guy doesn't look like it has much stroke available.

^^ thats my issue, I cant see that working with a slave thats on 50mm long.

I have another slave sitting around, its a 5/8 so slight smaller and I'm just going to see what travel it produces, hopefully this can tell me if it's the slave or maybe even the brand new master cylinder thats the problem?

                    Brake update:

So the 914 19mm master is awesome. I never once felt like I was on manual brakes and lacking in braking power. It bolts directly to the Massive booster delete plate and is a dual circuit master.

Not awesome update: threw a rod at VIR this weekend. It was either the #7 or #8 rod, haven't pulled anything out yet to inspect closer. I think the remote oil filter and very large oil cooler were too much for the stock oil pump. I notice oil pressure steadily going down in my first session. So much so that my oil pressure alarm sounded (25 psi). I brought it in; oil level checked out ok. After it cooled a little and I restarted it I had better pressure, so I took it back out the next session. First lap, bang. She's done. Luckily I've already secured a replacement engine, stocker out of an '88 Mustang. Hopefully my heads and cam are ok. If they are then I'm not too hurt, if they are I'll be a sad panda.

i dunno man, that doesn't really sound like a problem with the pump, moreso sounds like the oil was breaking down or something. or shit, maybe the oil pump took a dump? who knows.

if you want a cam i've got a spare stocker from a 91 stang. i'll be at summit point this sunday for 100 dod, it's yours for the price of two shitty hotdogs from their cafeteria

Do you have a picture of your set up? What reservoir are you using?

Thanks man, I still have my stock cam too though. Plus this new engine has its stock cam.

My thinking is oil started starving to the rod bearing and started wearing it down, opening up the clearance, which dropped the pressure. That's just my theory- we'll see what things look like when I open it up. I don't think it was oil breakdown- it was fresh Redline race oil in it.

I don't at the moment, sorry. I'm using remote reservoir's that come with Wilwood master cylinder kits. You'll need the master cylinder, two plastic nipples that fit into the fluid fittings on the master, and a fluid reservoir or two.

Are you using the e30v8 style pan? I'm assuming yes since there's really no other way to go about it.

Since you're pulling the engine to put the new donor in, I'd look into baffling the pan with some DIY trapdoors. Either that or switch to an e36 so you can use a real oil pan

I am, and did some DIY hokey-ass baffling last time I had it out. I'll try to do a little more this time. Don't have much time to fiddle with it, supposed to have it in a ChumpCar race in two weeks.
