When I unwrapped the engine, the oil filler
Cap was off..just sitting in a crevice. Not sure as to how long it was like that though. Surely people aren't that dumb to leave the oil cap off are they?
On another note, I found a 80k mile m60 about 30 minutes away from me. I'll be pulling the valve covers before I buy it though..

People who don't have to pay for things they wreck can be pretty careless.

      Good luck!

I really do miss my m20. There's nothing like a well built m20 screaming at 6500rpms..
However, after rethinking/cooling down, I'm continuing with the m60 swap

            Update:
Picked up an 80k mile remanufactured Alusil engine. Nice and clean. If this doesn't work out then I think it's a sign that mechanics just isn't for me

Has a complete wiring harness too!

                    Brakes came in!

Pulled out the dash today so I could drop the steering column and install brakes

Got the brakes mounted today..very tight working space. Hope I did it right because I never want to do that again. I just need to plumb everything up!

Do yourself a favor - the next time you're planning on doing body work, buy some rage gold. It's about $45 from summit if you get the big can, which comes across as kind of expensive if you've never used it before. but trust me - after using bondo brand for a few jobs and trying out evercoat's rage I will never go back. sooooooooo ridiculously easy to sand.
