What flywheel are you running? I do not think that a late 260 will fit over an eta flywheel.

yes, currently auto, i just got back from a trip so when i get off work ill have to inspect the trans i have for bellhousing marks. The trans I have is marked as a 260.0.1346.90. If anyone wants to save me a HUGE headache and wants my trans Id be happy to trade for an early eta manual (my prod date is 10/86)

Haha yeah I was doing more research on what clutch i should get and ran into this issue, from what i can tell from these threads

that is going to be a problem. From what I understand it may be doable with an eta flywheel and an is clutch, but i think i need to do more research.

you need the short little wire harness for the back up switch. also check the wires under shifter console for that same harness. i can't recall if you have to change a plug or something.

number 25 is the back up light switch, and should already be installed in the trans you have. you don't need to replace it.

The part number 5 is attached to the oldest type of the Getrag 260.
You must use all items from the second picture.

Also, I am aware the sensors are an issue and that I will likely need to do some electrical work/tampering with the transmission in order to make everything work. This is expected and A-okay with me.

  • Late model IS getrag 260 swap into early model eta

Bought a g260 a couple of years ago and am trying to get serious about actually swapping it into my eta. Got a couple of parts built up, and am not sure what is needed or will need to be modified. I have everything in diagram 25_0027 except 25 (not quite on electronics yet so this is fine for now. Since the trans is from a late model IS, I figured this would be acceptable as I got all of this for less than $50 (id consider that a steal, even if I cant use it i can sell it for much more than that, especially since all the rubber is new.) The issue is this. In the diagram 25_0085, which is from the correct year/model for my car (not off of vin as i have an auto) it appears that number 5 is necessary. That piece is nowhere to be seen off of diagrams for a late model IS, is this a non negotiable item? I havent taken the trans out or started any work yet as I prefer to have everything I think I will need before I start. Does anyone have any input on whether or not this is needed, or does it become obselete as I am using all IS parts? Click image for larger version
