    Best choice of chip?

So I finally decided to chip my car. It has a 380 DME. I'm kind of leaning toward a 91 octane MarkD chip, but I want to hear everyone's opinions of the best "bang for the buck" chip. I want something reliable but not way too expensive.

or should I just go for a 272 deg cam?

    Let's hear it.

doing a cam swap is a hell of a lot more work than a chip. you can't do it with the head in the car either (at least not very easily), so I don't see that as an alternative to a chip. besides, without other modifications it won't do a whole lot for you. stick with a chip..

I thought a 4.10 felt about the same as a chip.

But i'd also get a chip.

You don't want to do a cam swap. At all.

4.10 made a lot more difference in my car than the chip did. Then again, I already had the chip in when I added the 4.10. They work well together.

I took the chip out after 4.10. I used to think non-chipped 325i blew. But it was respectable, and about an equal improvement. Couldn't tell the 4.10 gain until I took it out.

All the gas stations in our area have 83, 85/87, and 93 octane. we have no 91 here in SE Houston. .... from what I have seen.

We have 92 in Seattle and the surrounding area. I have heard that some places used to carry 100 octane race fuel at the pump, but have not found them. We have several distributers that sell the high octane race fuels by the barrel. They tend to be in the $5/gallon range which is about double the premium price around here.
