Sweet ride man. Sorry you had the bad experience at Performance Discount Muffler. They really do suck. I took my car to them right after i bought it to replace the rotten muffler and dead cat so i could pass DEQ and get my new tags. he replaced the cat with a cheap 2 into 1 that failed in about a year, then ran a single pipe all the way mack to a shitty muffler that also lasted about 12 months. I really hate that buy. next time, go to Midas on 24th and Broadway. Craig there is awesome, he'll hook you up. good luck.

Wow. That sucks. I will defineately go someplace else when I get it re-done. I supplied the muffler, so no worries there. I just will have someone make a new headpipe and tuck the whole thing under the car better. If craig is still at midas on 24th and broadway I will go there. But it will probably be a few years.

38927- thanks man... I will have finished pics as soon as I can get the brakes bled again. And then I need to borrow a camera for the video (my digi doesn't do sound).

UPDATE- I replaced the leaky E21 brake booster, now I need to change my brake pedala little. Changing the booster required unmounting my engine and tranny and lifting them up about 6 inches! I also cleaned up the wiring some. My tach works now. I just have to hook up my fuel gauge and my speedometer and I will have full instrumentation.

I crushed the cap on the BOV to increase the spring pre-load. Now it opens at like 12 PSI. I am gonna put it in the vice again tomorrow and get it up to 17PSI.

I put the little 205/40/18 on the front wheel... It's nice to be able to turn.

I got tags for it. now I am street-legal! well as close as I am ever gonna be anyway.

the rotary... (no thread jack intended, this'll be the only post i make about it)

It's a 13B. Goin NA for now but chose not to convert it to the S5 rotors and such. Keeping it at the lower compression so a turbo can be a skip and a jump away if i so choose in the future.

Should be about a 9K screamer bolted to a TII tranny. With the motor in the position you saw in the previous pic, the TII transmission lines up like so:

custom motor mounts are all welded up and bushing material cut, however the M42 is back in for the winter while the rebuild/bridge porting occurs.

brap brap brap brap brap :D

        To be controlled by haltech.

Custom oil pan / sump pickup tube need to be made as well as a drive shaft, but other than that it should be a nutz and boltz swap.

any other questions... PM me and i may choose to answer or not answer them.

        end thread jack.

Very smoothly executed thread jack. I like rotaries... better than reciprocating engines. But I already had my reciprocating engine. If I were doing a rotary... it would have to run like 1.8 bar or rev to 12K. I would not mind rebuilding it for that kind of ass-kicking revability or power. mmmm

          happy swapping

I need to hook up my fuel gauge, run the car out of 87 octane gas, fill up with premium, install and calibrate my wideband o2 sensor, then I will start cranking up the boost. I am at 8 PSI right now. The DSM bov is not liking to hold boost. I am gonna crush the shit out of it pretty soon. I am confident that by the time it holds it enough boost, it won't be able to open far enough to let it out. I will likely be switching to a Blitz DD one for like $225 with a flange.

Blitz ones are obnoxious IMO, find one w/o that annoying whistle.

Wow, that is some project. Can't wait to see the finished product. How much power are you looking to make?

I had one without the annoying whistle, and it wouldn't hold more then 12 psi. I am going to modify the exhaust port on it so i can recirculate it though. Then it won't whistle. I personally don't like loud BOVs at all. I like loud turbos better.

reelimzpro- stock output from this engine is 205 HP at 7PSI. I am looking for about 280 at 17 PSI, then more like 340 at the same pressure once i get a real turbo.

UPDATE- Got the blitz valve installed, got the wideband installed and calibrated, got the A/F gauge mounted (OBC delete), and I was gonna go do some street tuning and crank the boost up, but it started raining.

Okay. So i went for a drive today, fixed a few vacuum leaks, and adjusted the MBC and the BOV. IT is running 15 PSI below 3000 RPM and feels real good. Holds boost until I let off the gas too. I don;t think i have revved it past 6 yet though.

Bad news- My M3 LSD is not locking at all. I guess I will drop like $1200 next summer and have it built up to like 70% locking from dan at diffsonline.

What is still ghetto- My accelerator cable is a JOKE! It is two cables attached together. But it is working right now. I also still need to hook up my alternator.

Sounds like you are making huge steps toward completion. I can't say this is a swap that I would want to do, but you have done a very good job at it. I hope you can bring it by Tom's tomorrow so I can have a look (and maybe a ride). Keep up the good work!

I finished wiring up the wideband o2, alternator, and the power windows. My A/F ratio is great. Boost is up to 16 PSI...

I gave up on the 18s. they are the wrong offset, and will never fit. THey will be on ebay within a week or so. I ordered 17" M contours today. I can't wait to go out and turn! then maybe I can get some video for you guys. It will be after friday when I get the wheels though.
