Seat mounting studs

There are two studs that come from the floor which the seat rails bolt to.

I want to pound those studs out of the chassis and either install longer ones or put a longer bolt in to allow for custom seat mounts and rails.


Can it/has it been done? I dont want to attempt this and fuck up my chassis

okay so what about process of removal. heat and force? basically heat the underside of the stud somehow with out over heating the underside of the car and melting the carpet...

Studs typically are threaded in but for safety reasons, with a seat that would surprise me. I's check realoem for the diagram.

I think the front studs may be welded in to the reinforcement plates under the car. Removing them could be a challenge.

It would be a better idea to come up with a different seat base that allows use of the studs as is. That isn't all that difficult to do.

Maybe grind them down and drill the rest out?

It really isn't hard to make a base that works with the stock anchor points. Some 3/4 square tube, some 1-1/5x1x1/8" flat stock, and bit of welding gets the job done.

the front studs are simply 3 spot welds to the floor of the car.

I was thinking about doing this same thing. I need the seat to have a little more angle meaning longer studs in teh front. If they are welded then maybe I'll make a mod to my bracket. Althought pounding those out seems a bit easier.
