I was able to get 33mpg on my 325i. Maybe the oem skidplate had something to do with it. Was also running synthetic oil/tranny/diff. measured tank to tank. All highway 500m trip.

just so you know, for reference, a 1990 ish porsche has the same drag coefficient as an e30. if that previous post is rightOriginally posted by teamdynasty43Aye listen here ph fucking dick cheese mother fucker ...go back to touching your self or your fucking boyfriend because you're just some dumb mother fucker that has no fucking life than other to ridicule others because you have no fuckin life and low self esteem so you try to make your self feel better so you act all big!!!! so if you really wanted to you should put dimpled panels like the new lexus (or whatever it is) to slow the air down and creat a low pressure area under your car.
and im pretty sure in most of the super cars at least the S7 air is channled (i cant spell anything) from under the car upward creating down force
correct me if im wrong
The non-symmetric airfoil is shaped such that the velocity of the air traveling over the top is faster than the air traveling underneath which results in lift.
Velocity increase = pressure decrease
Velocity decrease = pressure increase
Therefore... lower pressure on top and higher pressure underneath results in lift.

the lift results from circulation around the wing, the airfoil shape is the most efficient way to get the circulation.
That's the reason you can put an engine on a pizza box and get it to fly.
Also, the lift vector will be tilted back more producing drag.

doesnt the gearing restrict the e30 to less than 150 anyway? you could have 300whp, but you'll run out of rpms before you run out of power.
i know my rx8 can hit "186mph" on a dyno due to lack of wind resistance, because thats where 6th gear tops out at. turbocharged rx8s do 175 with about ~300whp. stock they do about 150. i hit 149 and i was almost at the end of 5th. closedroadonatrackdontdothatonapublicroad.AWD > RWD

not really, there's a ton of different gear ratios available. and it's not like redlines are set in stone, if you're building a motor that makes enough power to do 150+ you can build it with a 7500-8000rpm redline if you want.
even with 4.10s, I could hit ~142mph at my peak power of 6500rpm in 5th gear. I've never been to a track where that's even possible though, and I'm certainly not going to do it on the street. :)

This both increases downforce and reduces some of the parasitic drag. This type of setup on an E30 would be very difficult to design.
kinda like these awesome pix
images from one of my favorite pages i found at work being bored.
i know its old, but its awesome
i have aways wanted to add flat panels to the bottom of all my cars (like porsches)
maybe i will attempt this next.3 pedal club
