Do i really need the regulators? his write up doesnt say you need them just that he used them. I dont feel like spenind money, and waiting for things to ship out.

Did you not fucking read the threads HERE? In is more recent, and Bryson said the regulator was not neccessary!

He didn't need one, neither did I, and I think Ely said he was cool without one as well.

What's the point of drilling the holes? Why don't you just cut that whole bottom piece that's facing away from the engine out? Wouldn't that be the same thing but more air flow? :?:

? I dunno. We just do it.

              Box rigidity - keeps strength.
Leaves - a leaf will not be able to enter the box, etc.

Since the start of this thread, I've gone back to a full stock airbox, with the intake tube running to the headlight cover.

About the whole drilled airbox thing, I'm surprised Jordan's standards hasn't compelled him to ban everybody in this post ;)

                              B& for resurrecting a 2 month old thread :)

the stock airbox is designed with a purpose in mind... For example... considder the EVO vs Stock airbox on the e30 m3... BMW M realized how restricitive their small intake opening was, so they made the EVO which has a MUCH larger intake how, as well as has a "trumpet" that fits behind the radiator to cycle cool air to the airbox. By simply cutting holes in the side of the airbox, you are increasing the amount of air that can enter the airbox... BUT... with the AFM, a certain amount of air is alowed to enter the engine, so increasing VOLUME will not make a difference because of the resrtictive intake path. However, if you remove the AFM with something like A-n or an equivalent after market EMS... then "drilling holes" or, preferably, adding some other sort of intake setup with an individual TB setup would yield serious hp gains... but drilling holes only allows a higher volume of untuned, hot air to enter the intake path...
