Has anyone ever put a performance chip in there BMW? I own a 1984 BMW 325e with a automatic transmission. Did it improve performance and is there a manufacture of these chips? My car is completely original. Thank you.
Performance chip.

Yes, it's been done tens of thousands of times, yes, you may notice the change, no, it's not earth shattering.
Sssquid is likely the best source today as most historically well regarded tuners have dropped put of the market. -
As you car is 1984, the automatic transmission is the ZF 3HP22.
You can easily upgrade it to the ZF 4HP22 as some owners want to get rid of automatic transmissions after swaps.
Your differential ratio should be 2.79. It's the worst differential for performance, but the best for mileage.
If you look around, you'll be able to find a 3.07 Torsen differential. It was installed in the 2000-2002 BMW Z3 3.0i Roadster.
Many people don't like Torsens, so junk yards sell them for as low as $350.
Also, there was a 3.15 Z3 differential.
Very likely, a performance chip will require Premium gas.Last edited by Vincenze; 10-04-2020, 09:25 PM.Comment

Was’t the M10 318i the only E30 offered with a 3HP22? I thought all 325e’s were offered with the 4HP221986 325e Schwarz (sold)

Not worth it if soldered in place. Pretty sure you can replace it with an EPROM equipped model, but you should double check that.Comment

Yes, swap to the 027 if you can. You may even be able to get one with a performance chip already inside."I'd probably take the E30 M3 in this case just because I love that little car, and how tanky that inline 6 is." - thecj

You can unsolder the chip using a solder sucker.
