you're not going to get as low as you want on springs, especially not with an early model.

Why does a early Model have anything to do with it?

early models have higher rear arches so they always appear to have more wheel gap.

Like assuming the car is a track car because it has all the rite setup?

So thinking hypothetically here a 16" wheel with say a 195/50 would be almost flush ?

I think you're trying to fill the wheel gap, right?
flush is related to wheel offset.
195/50-16 isn't the most ideal tire size.
205/50-16 or 225/45-16 would be better and are still very close to OEM tire ratios if that's what you're going for.

You could even do 205/55-15 so you don't have to get new wheels

just get the correct tire size, it will look alot better.

have you seen an e30 with stock suspension? yours looks fine, or will look fine with the right size tires.
you know some people spend good money to get their cars looking "stockish"

Hrm, sounds like you need a set of 16x8 et0 wheels with 205/45's on em. Think you'd be quite pleased

I'll buy the springs off you.

But your problem is the undersized tires.

                                You need to read this:

Wheel size has nothing to do with overall diameter. This calculator is also very helpful:

                                http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

Your current tires are about 1-1/4" smaller diameter than stock, which means you will have about 5/8" more fender gap. A 195/60-15 or a 205/55-15 would be the ideal tire size, the latter being the most ideal.
