    this should help:

it probably took about 30 minutes per wheel to mask them off. I used newspaper on the rest so I wouldn't have to waste so much tape.

I wouldn't use glue or anything like that, you'll end up makinga big mess. just make sure you dont' have any gaps or bubbles around the edge, although you should be able to polish any of that off if there's any overspray.

i dont know if i have the skill or patience to do that though. First I might try some frisket and apply it with a syringe.

ok, ive determined the primer to be shit. I tested it on a piece of metal yester day and today i could scrap it off easily with my finger nail. I emailed wurth a while ago about what to use but they never got back to me.

idk. just ran my finger nail down it and it scratched off. on the side where i put the gold and clear over it i just bent the metal to get it to crack a little and i could do the same thing. I would just scratch it and i could see the bare metal

Was the piece of metal clean? What kind of metal is it? Spray paint may not bond well.

Well I don't know what to tell you. I painted my bottlecaps with spray paint and all I did was scuff them up and rinsed them off with water and the paint has never chipped off.

what do you guys think of using the black on the inside of the wheel so that brake dusk wont show on the on it through the spokes?

My rims are black on the insides of the rim. It shows brake dust worse than a silver rim does. But you should paint it black or the spokes just won't look right.

I left mine silver, I figured it was a waste of time & money to paint the inside of the wheel when nobody will see it.

alright i got some plasti-kote self etching primer. It says its only for lacquers and enamels though so i might not be able to use it. I also got some plasti-kote black super lacquer for the inside of the wheels. tough enough?

I may seem like im really spazing over this primer thing but i really dont wanna ever do this again

Still working on these, eh Nick? Just go get them powdercoated black somewhere and polish the lip off.

no the stuff im painting black is only the inside lip. right now its yellow. turns out the wurth paint is a lacquer so that should work well with the primer. I tested it and with only a few minutes of drying time its much more durable then the other primers i tried
