Even with a flat roll, +20 and that meaty tire can rub on an 88+. Anything higher than that should be okay.

The front of an E30 actually has far more clearance than the rear, regardless of year.

So since I can get any size spacers should I stick with 15/20 or get a custom size??

Thank you for all your help.
If you're willing to stick to 205/55, my brain calc says 18/23 is good. That's truly the limit for unrolled fenders though, you will clear the rear by literally 2-3mm.

I say stay with 15/20, honestly.

I am currently looking at two sets of wheels. Here are the specs:

        Set 1:
        16x8 - Offset: +3

        Set 2:
        16x8 - Offset: +9

Late body style car / Lowered on Ground Controls

What size tires do you think would work well and how much massaging / cramming do you think it would take? I'm not worried about pulling / rolling but would like to avoid cutting if possible. I read through some of your other recommendation and it seems like 16x8 +0 is not worth it so I may have answered my own question but I was curious as to whether 3/9mm would make any appreciable difference.

        Thanks in advance!

It definitely makes a difference. The +9 setup would fit very nicely with 205/45 tires, and you may not even need to roll anything. The +3 will fit with a flat roll in the back.

If you don't have camber plates the +3 will be sticking outside of the front fenders slightly. If you can deal with that (it won't rub), then you're fine.

Well they are 5x120, so that's one obstacle. What car are they going on?

Well they're 15x7 +20 and clear the big calipers on the 7, so they should be fine without spacers. I've never seen someone try it, but I don't foresee any issues.

                  Jay,

just picked up some esm 002 wheels

                  rear-16x9 et20
                  front- 16x7.5 et20

watta ya think about 215/40 rears with 205/40 fronts? I want the meatiest tires I can have on there but the tire shop swears anything bigger will rub.

BTW car is 88 vert on billie sports/eibach (almost no gaps)

ok from reading through this thread i think i figured out the answer to my question.

I was wondering what would be the widest possible tires for stock e30 without spacers.

I have a 91 and wanna run some wide tires in the future. With 15 inch rims then 225's might be cutting it close? and with 16 inch rims i should be fine? Im planning on getting some bilsteins(sp?) with H&R's so im not sure if that makes a difference.

sorry for the n00b question but never really saw that discussed anywhere else.

i got wheels in 16x7j with et25 what tire size should i use? i would like to use some 225/45 R16 since the upcoming m50 swap will need a little grip. will that setup work and is there any modification needed?

edit: my car is lowered something like 80mm(~3") in the front and 30-40mm(1-1.5") in the back

I forgot to mention this was on a E30 will this still work ?

So I have the BBS RX's? I think thats what they are. They are 16x7J. ET 35...thats what it says on the rim. Also...I have 205/50/16's on em now...was wondering if thats the best tire size for that rim. heres a pic if it helps. Also...whats the 91w mean?

p.s. Have 10mm spacers on all wheels. if that matters.
