Thanks for the reply mate. I am currently about to order a set of kumho ku31's in a 215/40/16. I will be running fairly low but will have a skid plate so should be ok.

You'll need 15-20mm spacers to fit those properly. I'd suggest 15mm front 20mm rear. 205/50 is a suitable size, as is 205/55.

Likely not. They will hit the front struts, and beyond that the rears will be severely sunken into the wells.

Need to know if it will fit...

16x8 BBS RS et23 (4x100) with 225/45/16 on a stock suspension 89 vert. If so can I push it to 235?

I am planning for a GroundControl coil-over kit in the near future...

Yes, custom... Went with 16x8 front and 16x9 rear with et13 all around. Did the SL lip in the rear and NR lip in the front. Essentially more lip in the rear. I am looking to a bit of a stretch. Nothing extreme.

Seems a bit big to me, would have thought this was better:

                      Front: 16x8 et20 205/50R16
                      Rear: 16x9 et15 225/45R16

Fronts will be paper-thin clearance to the struts. You may need a 3-5mm spacer depending on tire bulge. Rear fenders will require a roll. There are no 235 16" tires.

Way too tall. 16" tire options are getting slim, first look at what's available before you decide on a fitment. 225 also won't work with the 16x9s. You'll need to roll the rear fenders.

You can go with any of the following but again, check and see tire availability before you think you've figured it out:
                            205/50 F 215/45 R
                            195/50 F 215/45 R
                            195/45 F 215/40 R

3-5mm front spacer, and I'd switch to a 215/40 front (less dangerous, gives you more ground clearance and load rating than the tiny 205/40s).

I think 215/45 is ideal but can I fit 215/50 without modification ?
