That's EXCACTLY where my head is at. I'm on my 5th e30 since 2007 with an average cost of $1,200 a car and most of them were pretty clean. I feel like that time is long gone and the next car is gonna cost real money.sigpic

has anyone else noticed the prices cooling for e30's yet ? the BaT prices have mostly settled under the 20k mark now, but exceptional examples can still get above. Cars and Bids is showing the same with cars selling sub 10k to about 20k but few breaking the 20k barrier now. not including the m3 of course.
BaT now seems only for speculators while Cars and Bids seems to attract the drivers and enthusiasts now.

Of course, cars like the M3 will get people emotional enough that price trends for it will defy market dynamics.1986 325e Schwarz (sold)

And speaking of M3s, 6-12 months from now would probably be a super good time to “rob” someone of an nice E46 M3. The dirt cheap E30 M3 ship already sailed in like 2011 (the 2008 crash being the window of opportunity for that car), but I see a window of opportunity opening up to pick a mint E46 M3 for a song in 2024, and that car will probably moon to the stratosphere (i.e. high five figs to six figs for a mint stock one) in 10-15 years or so.1986 325e Schwarz (sold)

It'd been sitting in a garage for like 10+ years, non running and the body was rough but it was all there, just begging for a restoration. I want to say the dash didn't even have any cracks, and the BMWCCA sticker in the rear window is a detail I remember. Passed on it because I was out of garage space and taking on a project like that was beyond me at the time. Definitely kicking myself for not picking that up!
had i not ended up with my mentor's 2002 from his estate, i probably wouldn't own one today (and mine isn't very nice at all, but at least it's mine).'70 911s | '72 2002 | '88 M5 | '89 330is | '89 M3 | '95 911 | '02 M5 | '04 RR HSE

edit : china is in deflation - prices, wages, and employment levels are all crashing.

Hipsters no likey spring pokey in the butt. Specially as they be gettin' on in years, now.
OVER-RESTORED 2002s may be going for silly on BaTurkey, but the local prices are not yet up to what it costs to do a really
nice paint job and build a solid engine...
