I think OP has a point about speed limits, but I also think he wasn't purposely trying to make his point and from his ignorance he spawned something that some people could consider intelligent. Speed limits should be abolished. People generally drive at the speed they feel comfortable (safe) at. People who do not drive at this comfortable speed could be considered crazy, and therefore they will most likely be driving like a maniac (reckless endangerment) This is not always case and I am simply playing devils advocate here but try not to flame me too much :)

1.) There are crazy fucks out there, and I don't want them able to drive around at "a speed they feel comfortable with" doing 150mph flybys on me on the freeway.. That's retarded..
2.) Braking distance is exponential, a lot of people don't know that, and even if you tell them that they don't know what it means. I mean seriously, I'm sure most people have had close calls when they first started driving.. If I could have driven at any speed when I started driving I'm sure some of those close calls would have been collisions.
3.) Sure, maybe on some roads you feel like you could safely go faster, but not all cars can go the same speed safely, and not all drivers are willing to go as fast as you. Basically what I am saying is that you would have cars traveling at vastly different speeds on the freeway, and that is dangerous. It's hard to judge someones speed in your rearview mirror, especially when it's dark, so you could easily end up pulling into the left lane to pass someone in front of you and have some guy going 40mph faster then you on the freeway slam into you because you pulled in front of him and he couldn't slow down fast enough.

Basically, it's a shit idea. Just obey the speed limits. If you don't, then shut your fucking face when you get caught because it's your own fault.. If you think you should be able to go faster then try to get the speed limit changed..

All you do by speeding is give the government more of your money, great job, you really stuck it to them dumbass.


ps: the police are terrorists? LMFAO.. Yeah they just run around terrorizing everyone all day, they definitely aren't around to keep people in check or anything like that..

And yes, speed limits are pretty retardedly slow in many places, and it always pisses me off seeing cops cruise around at 85mph and then give someone a ticket for doing 75 down the same road. Traffic citations are a huge source of revenue and the government is reluctant to raise speed limits mainly for that reason.

But no there's really nothing we can do about it but bitch and moan.

The Autobahn works because Europeans are exponentially better drivers than Americans. They are extremely aware of the roads and the cars around them and they understand the need to move over for someone faster.

Americans not so much, if I had a quarter for every time I was stuck behind someone in the fast lane going 65 mph and not moving over, well....I'd have a shitload of quarters.
In fact, just last week, I was on a two lane road and thie Eclipse literally had 10 cars behind her while she was in the fast lane going 65 mph matching the speed of the car in the slow lane, after about 5 minutes of this, I finally got behind her. I stayed on her ass for a good 30 seconds and then I gave her a quick high beam flash. The bitch had the fucking nerve to brake check me :hitler:. I got over and drove by her, and she flipped me off, wtf? Shit like that pisses me off.

My dad has a friend who went to Germany for a business thing. She was driving on the Autobahn with a trailer behind her and was cruising in the left lane. She was so accustomed to American driving styles, she didn't even see the Mercedes Benz slam into the back of her trailer at over 120 mph. People here have no idea how to drive.

and lastly, if you want to speed, take the consequences that you get with your actions if you get caught and dont be a bitch.

i regularly travel at or near 160-200kph, i don't have any tickets, and no accidents. if the op is bitching about getting tickets, then he/she needs to learn about avoiding detection, i.e. learn where the police wait for speeders, and slow down so you don't get pulled over. don't swerve in and out of traffic, make your lane changes smoothly, use your signals. Don't tailgate the shit out of people, or flash your highbeams, because that draws more attention to you, and makes people call in your tag number to "the man" as the op put it.

You know the autobahn is pretty much restricted to 130KPH these days correct? With the exception of a few areas where traffic is not that heavy nor congested.

The green party is trying to get it all restricted to 130KPH on a daily basis as well.

Also if you are involved in an accident and your speed is calculated above 130KPH you are the at fault member for failure to keep your vehicle in control.

Speed limits are there for a reason, you think the limit should be 50mph through a school zone, or 100mph on the highway? It's because people can't react fast enough, or have the skill to drive that fast, daily for that matter. No one pays 100% attention while driving unless its driving fast, if you do it on a daily basis, you'll get comfortable and thats when accidents happen.

so where do you live where everybody goes the posted limit? School zones are a special case, but really, I've driven all over the us and canada and I don't think I've ever been somewhere where the general flow of traffic wasn't at least 5-10mph over the posted limit.

Radar detectors = false sense of security, if you insist on speeding learn where the cops usually set up speed traps, when I lived in Miami I never worried about cops because I always knew where they were.. its funny when you drive down to Miami the whole way I'm going 80mph passing everyone then I get to Miami and theres Geo Metros going 100mph along with everyone else, its hilarious nobody gives a fuck.

If you have a radar detector, just don't be a douche and think it's going to protect you from everything. Obviously it's going to help but it's not 100% foolproof.
