And do the Neon head swap to the 2.2, well that is to a 89+ turboII bottom end. You'd have a nice little car that no one would expect to perform the way it would

Fixed.
Well, coming to the realization that an E34 M5 Winkelhock would make a terrible DD, I am forced to change my answer.
Something I have always thought would be a excellent DD would be a CPO'd E90 330i sport with a six-speed manual. Make it silver on black with the seven-spoke wheels and I would rock that thing all the effin' time. BMW's last attempt at a good design IMO.- Trey

I guess I am going to take the easiy way out and say I would get the newests, cleanest, lowest mileage e46 m3 I could find and afford. If not that I would go to Europe and find some special e30 Touring and legally import it. If it was not special a swapped car would also be good too.sigpicComment

2002-2003 Porsche 911. Good time to buy a p-car, 996es are getting frickin' cheap. 993s are arguably a better car, with a dry sump and all, but the parts are 2x as much as a 996. I would also invest in a 4 wheel lift of some kind, working on that car is really hard with no way to reliably and safely getting underneath it.
I did see an s54 Z3M coupe at work, it's a nice car and a BMW, which is a great car as well. The Porsche however is a lighter car. I've never driven an M Coupe, however so I'm just going on pedigree.
For vintage BMW, there's a guy at work who has a Dinan E34 M5, that thing is sick. He'd sell for $20k. I'd take that car over the 996, but it's a bit heavier and much harder I think to get work done on.Comment

Indeed. I had an 89 shelby daytona. I was gonna do that but wound up selling the car when I rendered my wife prego with our first kid.......I am a big fan of the shelby dodge era.
