What oil weight is everyone using?

I always ran GTX 20w50 high mileage like various others have stated

s50 - 20/50 castrol gtx high mileage.
no leaks or burns in either engine.

I use napa 15-50 full synthetic which is made by valvoline. I dont have the data of valvoline zddp content but Id be interested.

when I had 10-30 in there it leaked constantly. at least a quart every 1000 miles...

I only went about 2000 miles before changing it again to 15/50, and there is basically almost no leaking since.

I have only changed the oil 3 times though.

It has never looked dirty to be honest at any time ive owned it. Its always had full synthetic. Its on a 7500 mile schedule.

I use napa gold filters which are made usually by wix, but I used one made by gard too.

po used mobil 1 and fram tough guards ( which is still terrible but better than the orange frams)

15w-40 rotella or Delo 400. used in both the old M20 and the new M50. burns about a quart in 3k miles.

its bad but not emergency bad.

In this case it wasnt long term. It causes a lot of carbon in the combustion chamber. I feel certain i cleaned it out with sea foam.

I had never had a car burn that much oil before, and I used to own air cooled vws which do burn about 1 quart per 2000 miles even when new.

switched to thicker oil and it ended. I dont have any data to give on how much its burning now, almost nothing believe it or not.

Isn't it really bad for your engine to burn oil because of all the carbon deposits it creates on the head/pistons/valves?

those carbon deposits are the only reason your 250k mile motor still has compression.

I think my PO was using 5w50, because the oil was really thin and looked as good as it went it. Amazing there were/still are no leaks... I will drop a weight next oil change

Thank you God for sending me a PO that caring enough to replace their oil pan gaskets, filter gasket, and rear main seal before selling their car for $800 to a noob. Amen :)

theres no 5w50 oil

theres 5 30 and 5 20....

apart from being the wrong grade, its also the stuff without the zddp...

( but I did take note that theres a filter gasket that leaks and Im about to look into it for a freeway leak on my car so thanks)
