Some of the dumbest stuff is nla. seriously.
Like having a small room with some jack covers and stuff would really kill them. I hate when they decide no more need to be made.
They're not friggin beany babies, why do they need to be "retired" and shoot the damn price up? BMW sees no profit on used parts.Comment

well, considering the amount of parts still available for our cars (down to every nut, bolt and clip) I don't feel too bad about it. I know other people with cars of a similar vintage that can't get shit from the dealer..Comment

it´s only demand that is maintaining current parts beeing made.
Imagine all the water pumps that are bought,
anybody think they would sell as many glass sunroofs??
They only sell replacement and wear out parts, all the other stuff is sold out and not enough demand for it,Gunni

Gunni, you and I are saying the same thing. I don't see why BMW would keep making those dumb little trays for the trunk, but obviously all the real wear parts are still available for our cars.Comment

It also has to do with who makes the parts. BMW doesn't make a lot of the componants of the engines or suspensions themselves therefore they will be available for as long as those manufacturers see fit.
The body componants and pieces are what are NLA and that is what BMW makes. The reason that a lot of the little shit is still available is that it's used on even the new cars.
