Old cars are great if you are able to work on them yourself. The nice thing is, older cars are also easier to work on (generally).

New cars are great for people who don't want to work on their cars and want a warranty to make the dealer fix them. Downside is having a monthly payment.

I haven't had a car payment in 10 years. Hope that i wont ever have one in the future too.

The idea that you need to spend hundreds a month on a car payment and thousands on depreciation to save a little bit on maintenance and repairs is frankly nonsense. Those guys are making money somehow..

Hit the nail right on the head.

I kind of want an FRS/BRZ/GT86 but I'll be waiting a few years until they're more affordable and more aftermarket support for mods.

I've never understood why people to choose to put their family in an older car, I understand if money is a constraint then obviously you get the best you can. I just know if I am able to afford a new car for my family they will always be in a larger, new vehicle. I would have the confidence if my girlfriend or wife to avoid an accident, but there's idiots out there that sometimes you can't avoid or don't see coming. I'd much rather have my family in a 2013 explorer if someone slams into them than a 1999 toyota camry or god forbid my e30.

You should probably just keep your family all curled up safe in bed.

The E39 would like to have a word with you. This was a friend's car, t-boned at about 50 mph. He walked away.

I was aiming what I said towards the OP. Let's see what 93 camry or e30 looks like being tboned at 50. I daily a 97 7 series. I think I'm safe.

That's a damn shame. 5 speed too... I have an identical car with black interior. I like it because it is old enough to be easy to work on cheap but new enough to have plenty of airbags, safety features and amenities.

The support for the gt86 is huge. Company's were already crankin out parts before the car was even released
