Sorry for your loss. After putting so much time and effort it must be discouraging. My daughter hit a deer recently with my wife's 87 325i vert and really messed up the front end. Hooked up a strap to a tree and backed the car up to straighten up the front end, replaced the hood, fender, lights, grill and radiator. With a little paint she will almost look good as new.

Easy save duder.

Get estimates, don't let them total, push for getting it repaired OR put you into another clean E30 like it! As that's what insurance is for in the first place.

Or get money, don't let them total and you pay a shop to replace the rear panel/ trunk panel / bumper + paint.

I had a situation like this as well. The damage want as bad but still amounted to ~2000$ at a fairly expensive shop. Ofc insurance tried to total it, set value of the car at like 2200$.
I had a good amount of money into the car so I was pretty mad. After bickering with the insurance for months (my own insurance, damage was vandalism) they sent me a check for 700$. I had the damage repaired for 600 bucks, sold the e30 and bought a new one.

Well I just got back from the insurance adjusters office he valued the damage at $2665.00. He did not get a value for my car as the people who handle that were not in that late in the day. He said he will call me tomorrow with their offer and a salvage price.
So to all guys saying save it I will if someone wants it if not I'm gonna part it out. I need to recoup my money as much as I hate wasting a good car if no one buys it whole in a week or so it will start to get parted. I am moving and don't really have the space or time to part it but at least I'll get the good stuff off of it.

If they give me 2500-3000 and then i part out 1500 I would be ok with that.

Fixing it ruins the resale value of the car. The quarter is pushed in toward the trunk and the trunk latch is pushed back a good 6 inches... I looked at the guy like I was gonna kill him told him to be quiet and wait for police I had to use extreme anger management. I wanted to bash his fucking skull in but I know long term i did the right thing. Hopefully they offer me at least 2500 and the option to buy back so I can part out all the good shit on it. man this is why I just want a beater every time I have something nice it gets wrecked by someone else...

No it was his attitude and him saying that he will not admit fault when he clearly was at fault... Yes ppl like that piss me off.
As far as priorities go I have mine in order. I know I did the right thing. I felt like knocking him out at the moment and now I could care less about the dickhead guy. A feeling doesn't last forever, it like eveything else passes with time. I have my priorities in order that is why I told him to shut up because I was only getting more pissed. Maybe you should work on getting your priorities straight and stop judging other ppl and look in the mirror bro. Or maybe you need to get in touch with your emotions? It's ok to have emotions we are human....
