I agree that this is very sad, but we are all to blame. We are too cool, we are having too much fun, and any non-e30 owner that is not jealous, is just stupid or they want an autopilot car. Lately, I've been dreaming of accumulating a few more just so I am assured of a lifetime supply. But I am starting to see some nice e28s.

Ebbs and Flows - Right now the market is up a bit, most of the observations are in North America, where it's the height of the summer and most of what I'm reading on this thread are asking prices. I did see a few transactions, but they didn't seem too inflated.

I get it, It hurts when you define part of yourself through something that is unique and that thing gets exploited. Though, I feel owning an e30 is still and always will be an enthusiast motivated culture -I think that is what defines and shapes the magic of ownership, and owner persona more than simply the car itself. The enthusiast made the e30 > the e30 made the enthusiast. I don't see that going away.

there were only 1 million sent to the US. Sooner or later the clean chassis is going to run out and that is why prices will change

The fact that that car hasn't completely rotted away is all that keeps that car priced accordingly. Get anywhere west of Alberta and you'll see prices become far more realistic for a stock e30 like that (say 4-5k TOPS!)

I like my e30, I have always loved it, and if in the future I have to pay MORE to get the car I LOVE, so be it.

If lucky, the E36 will die peacefully, in its natural habitat, and be given the prestigious honor of donating its parts to an E30

Regarding all the talk about the newer BMWs one could buy for what e30s are going for...

At this point you buy an e30 b/c you want an e30. If you would rather buy another car with your money, then do that instead. I hate it when people compare them to e36s or e46s. Apples and oranges. I don't see an e30 as a less valuable model then an e36 M3 or and e46 M3. I love the e46 M3 and when I am good and ready i'll buy one, but its pointless to compare it to the e30 in my eyes.

E30s are getting harder and harder to find...a couple years ago, $500 E30s everywhere...now I can find a damn $500 car to save my life.

They keep getting sent to the JY, or kids buy them and wreck them. Its getting so hard to find a good one.

Just picked up a Brilliantrot 1990 325is with 254k on the clock, needs a hood a trunk lid, a wheel bearing/trailing arm and pretty much the M20 is on its last legs...I payed $1700 for it. But its pretty rust free too. The car probably woulda gone for $1000-$1200 a couple of years ago. It wasn't exactly what I wanted, but I knew if I didn't buy it it would be forever til i found one again.

In 10 years E30s will climb up in price to current 2002s. E36s sadly will never climb up in price...ever. I like the fact that the good engines are getting cheaper. An S54 can be had for reasonable coin now.

i'm really jealous of you guys in america. a good base model in aus is around $3000 and the cheapest 318is is $7000. 325i are at least $5000 and 325e are $3500+.

if i can get a loan from my parents i'll be snapping up a stock 320i for $3400. cheapest good condition model i can find
