^^ Oh, what's that? The disgraced former team principal/playboy extraordinaire is jumping on the Vettel/Horner/RBR hatred bandwagon?! That's right up there with me wanting to know what Niki Lauda or Bernie think about this situation.

Blah blah blah, they didn't even finish the race with either car. Vettel's showing that killer instinct every great driver has ever had. They're just riding the publicity train.

I mean, don't get me wrong, there's some truth to what they're saying, but Vettel's not a loose cannon.

Good FIGHT: one driver with a detuned car running 16k rpm holding station vs a driver with 18k rpm and charging against a driver who thinks the race has ended, isnt that exciting.

A norrow minded viewpoint if I do say so...

You have the face of a 600 employee organization publicly stealing a race and disobeying logical orders from another public employee who is following the same set of orders. Then said employee celebrates like a jackass by weaving all over when finishing as if he accomplished something. He then lies to everyone that he didnt know, and is directly refuted by horner saying not only was he told over the radio several times but their was also a pre-race strategy meeting were he was told what to do in this particular scenario. I guess if you dont mind your company looking like a bunch of dishonest weasels, and you are ok with employees doing whatever the hell they feel like it was pretty damn cool.

Vettel thinks he is above the very team that wins him races. He continuely disobeys orders by setting pointless fast laps and I for one am now rooting against him. I would love to see the roles reversed later in the season and horner detune vettels car from the pitwall just to see his reaction when standing on the second step of the podium. I highly doubt he will be as professional as webber was.

RBR is in a spot I dont envy. The face of their racing division just trashed his reputation. I would have had more respect for vettel if he said I am gunning for the championship I saw an oppurtunity and I took it. We all know every point could be the difference in the end and Mark doesnt stand a chance in hell of winning the drivers champ. At least then I would say he is a stand up guy, and is a straight talker.

Weber flat out drove the better race comming from fourth to lead. I hope he puts in an inspired rest of the season. Would be great if he were in a position at the end of the year to take out what will likely be vettels championship ala: grand prix of japan style. "Seb just braked to hard I couldnt get slowed down"

P.S. naming your child after Vettel constitutes the highest order of being a "fanboy", unless of course you were to name another child vagina. ;)

Let's hold the grudge through the ENTIRE '13 season, and hurt not only your own chances, but your constructor because the primary driver pulled a dick-ish move and took first, in the second race of the season. I like both drivers, I have always rooted for not only Vettel/Webber, but also Toro Rosso, just because I'm a huge fan of just about anything Red Bull-sports related. I'm sorry, but that's the most childish way to go about it. I'm not saying Vettel is absolved of all wrong-doing. He's a cocky, young 3-time world champion, and he pulled a dick move when he knew he shouldn't have. But I just don't see it as as much of a hellworthy trespass as the rest of the fans and sporting press are painting it. As I said before, this too, shall pass. This story is doing what it's supposed to, creating drama.

Bottom line, the most boring form of racing I can imagine is when the 2 front running cars are ordered to finish the last 10 laps of a race in not much more than an ordered procession across the finish line. You might as well cut coverage after Webber got word to tune the engine down and limp the rest of the way home. I want a FIGHT to the end, I want to be standing up yelling at the TV, and scaring the neighbors when my driver says "FUCK THAT" and takes the win. Yes, Vettel showed immature behavior, but he made for damn good racing. Period.

That's what you aren't getting. Even if the FIA reduced the necessary fuel requirement, the teams would just put even less in.

What is so hard to understand about that?


I want to see a spending cap and much more open technical regulations.

You have XXXX to spend each year, you will use tires that are XXX size, you're car must fit into a box of XXX size now GO!

Of course there would be safety regs and the like, but that would be a much more interesting series.

Exactly. If you ask me, the secondary driver on the team (WEBBER) is there to ensure that the primary driver (VETTEL) wins races. People may come to races to watch RBR. People may come to watch Webber. But for the most part, the major fans of RBR are coming to watch Vettel WIN. Not to watch him hang back behind the secondary driver while he limps his car into a checkered flag in P1. If you honestly believe this is how racing should be, we have vastly different opinions of what racing is.

Meh, Horner has always said his drivers are there to race until a certain position in the championship. It was agreed before the race whomever was in front after the last stop would be the race winner.

The only reason Vettel is getting away with this is because Helmut Marko continuously gargles his little German balls.

Unfortunately, Webber is right. Nothing will happen to Vettel and they will move on.

He won't resign there next year and he won't go anywhere else as it would be a step down. I see him back at Le Mans, or Australian V8, or maybe DTM. But I'm willing to bet this is his last year in F1 regardless.

Heh, I figured that was the next argument. Yes, teams could simply just run with more fuel on board, much in the same way that the FIA could reduce the size of their fuel sample. Anyways, I don't see the answer to this dilemma being found in this thread, so hopefully it won't continue to be a problem like it has been the last few seasons.

F1 is interesting due to its team nature, but it is still driver vs driver, and should be fought to the line. Team orders? Screw em if you can take the position, just be aware of the political fallout.

this is from 2012, but i found it relevant to this topic. im not an avid watcher of formula 1, but i do enjoy watching it when its on. so seeing this for the first time, i was impressed, very.
