      Through which company?

i carry full coverage on my mtech2 cabrio through 21st century. it costs about 700.00 a year or a little less. the cheapest insurance would be through one of the classic insurance companies like haggerty, but you would need to park it in a locked garage when not used, never drive it to work, drive less than 3000 miles a year, have another car for a daily driver, etc. that would be the only way you could get your insurance down to the 20-30 month range.

there are lots of threads in this section about insurance. do a search in the general section for "insurance" and you will get a wealth of info there.

if your 91 318 has its original interior, it would be vinyl instead of leather.

good luck with your car. if you need anything, let me know
        Thanks!

I had $100k/$300k liability only on my '89 with American Family for a year and a half. It was $315 a month. I'm 19 (almost 20) and have one ticket on my record (improper lane change.) Such bullshit, but I was under the impression that there wasn't a whole lot I could do (mother was convinced that my coverage was high, simply because of my age.)

Got tired of getting raped, so I called Geico...$140 for the same coverage. Switched and haven't looked back.

I should look into this. I got a quote through hagerty and its the same, $300 a year with a 10k guaranteed value. I don't even drive it that much (maybe 5-6k a year) but I do drive it every day.

Of course this is a question for the insurance company, but can I keep my current liberty mutual liability insurance that covers 16 year old me driving, and take out a policy with hagerty in my dads name (~30 years driving and I think zero points) on my car? I'm not technically the owner of the car, so I don't know what legal implications this has, or what would happen if an uninsured motorist runs me over with my driving the car. On the online quote calculator it just says the applicant information, and doesn't ask anything about who's the primary driver.
The first car I ever rode in was an e30

So, you want to know if you can have double coverage? Not sure I'm getting that right.

I don't think it's illegal but it might be against the insurance companies policies, or not.

Yeah, it'd be the easiest thing to do. I'm on my parents policy with 3 drivers and 4 cars and I can drive all of them, although I'm the primary driver for my car. If I could just get classic insurance on mine for an extra $300 per year I can just pay that for the peace of mind and not have to mess with my current coverage which allows me to drive the other cars and has liability for me. If I had this coverage in just my dads name on my car (registered in his name), I wouldn't really have any liability coverage on myself. And if I cancelled my current insurance I probably couldn't drive the other three cars.

My M3 has a $45k agreed value coverage and is in my 75 year old dads name. If something happens and I'm driving I'm still covered as I'm listed in the household, but I'm also 32 and married.

So can you declare any value you want? I suppose they don't really care, and the premium just increases accordingly. And that's awesome, 300 a year for full coverage up to 10k is awesome.

I pay 21/mo for basic coverage from Direct General. I just got a quote from hagerty for 700/yr for full coverage and guaranteed 8k. That's far better than any other company for what they offer. I think I'll switch.

I have a locked garage, a daily driver, and I'm married though.

Well to a point yes, but you send photos and documentation to justify the amount

I have Stated value on the M3's. The other cars have just normal insurance thrugh USAA.

We use E36's as DD and have a Tahoe for family truckster stuff.

Just pulled a bunch of insurance quotes from various different companies and looks like I'm switching to AAA Texas. They quoted $551/12months for liability only.
                                Seems the cheapest.
