It's called that after the wax used at the factory for the sunroof mistakenly camouflaged the sunroof thus blending roof/sunroof. This of course has caused much confusion.

There are about 10 e30s in my neighbourhood, not including my two. What's rare here is if they are not driven by old folks.........in my neighbourhood anyways.

"damage" is done though. The car isn't a rust-bucket, but I've tried to get my E30's less rusty as I buy different ones. My first E30 was a rusty POS, this is nothing like it, but lots of surface rust has accumulated in the rear subframe/trailing arms, some surface rust on the gas tank, brake lines and fuel lines will have to be replaced once the subframe is out, brake line T, all the hard brake lines on the rear subframe.

I highly doubt you did all that in one winter.

Most vehicles have rust where you have described within 4 years of being manufactured.

Holy shit, it's about time someone posted the truth. Afterall, these are BMW's and having a sunroof in the 80's/90's was a big deal, especially a power sunroof.
