    325es or 325ix? 325es value??

I cant believe how many e30s have been poping up around my area. First i found out that a 91 vert lives across the street from me and then i saw this red 325ix i was interested in.....but know i found this 1986-1987 325es black, 5 speed, black leather sport interior. Very clean inside and out. Paint is decent. I put a sign under the wiper saying to call me. If he calls me before i go look at the 325ix i might just buy that instead! Wish i would have got some pics. might go back and get some.

    Any input?? ES or iX?
SO since the ix is out here are pics of the ES ill try and get some more

I'd personally go with the ix. I'm not a huge fan of the diving board bumpers and the skinny tail lights. Well, and the eta motor.
Question is, would you rather have something AWD or RWD?

Ix just had the front struts replace. all cv boots are good interior needs some work. Outside is in great condition.
In leaning towards the ES though. But the ix would be great for the winter!

I'd definitely prefer an eta personally. I like the more raw feeling of a RWD car and the eta motor is great. Can't go wrong with the 2.7L b27. I don't know you, but if you like torque, you'll like this motor. The gas mileage is great too. About 28 highway and 22 city I believe?

But in all honesty, do what fits your situation best. If you're buying this car to just drive around for fun, then I'd go with the 325e. If you're looking at dailying this car even through Winter, I'd say go IX.

es all the way. Excellent engine that never dies, torque, fuel economy. Plus it looks classic and cool. But that's just my opinion.

if the ix isn't rusty,(it didn't appear to be in the pix) it would really be a travesty to drive it in the winter. i know they use salt on the roads in nebraska to some extent.

i, personally would pick the ix for sure because i have owned a couple of them and i will love them to my final days.

the ix will cost a shit load more to maintain and the fuel economy is way worse. on the upside, the resale value will be higher on an ix that is in similar condition to a like 2wd car.

it is hard to get a good judge on your needs, but my guess is that you are perhaps in your late teens to early twenties, somewhat limited in budget and perhaps in school?

if the car is going to be your only vehicle and you can't afford to pay to replace a transfer case or a diff (have the tools resources to do it yourself), the ix may not be a good fit for you. as i mentioned above, ix's are expensive to maintain at a decent level. if you can't fix the car yourself, plan on a few repair bills that will be 2k or more at some point in the next couple years.

Yes very much! im 18! I have my 318i ill be keeping too. And that didnt do the best in the snow this year. So the ix would be the better choice for the winter and i do have the tools and everything to fix what would need to be but at the same time i want the ES cause it would be a fun car to have fun with and work on! Im test driving the ix friday!

I think most E30s these days probably aren't running their best.

also, this was before the corn lobby pissed E10 down our throats, although I still run non-ethanol fuel today (the only refinery here without an Ethanol plant is Conoco). that kills ~2-3 mpg from the average car.

right now I get 18/21, but there are reasons for that. :p
