I am one of the rare kids who hardly uses his phone lol. As for the roads I love smooth roads and personally they're better for your alignment. Driving down Saddle Creek is a nightmare though.
but personally, it's all about Mariah Carey on the freeway

I really think it depends on the car... I've built several cars, and I tend to let the car "talk" to me. My wagon, for example, was a cruiser and handled like a boat... so "stanced" (I prefer fitted) it was. Now, the e30 will be a bit different, but to be honest I'm not 100% sure which way it will go yet. It hasn't "spoken" to me, per se. I know it's fun to drive, I know it's tossable, but I also know that will get me into trouble, because let's be honest... we all lose self control occasionally.
To sum up, I'm a car guy and can respect the amount of work that goes into any car and enjoy it. As long as it's well thought out and well put together, I can dig it.

I love stance! And I plan on getting my car some good stance one day with some nice wheels. But nowadays there's some people with some stupid ass stance like they have a mean ass stretch with an excessive amount of negative camber, looks super retarded. IMO I think some good low with a little bit of some camber look good, but don't over do it. And another thing, cars like Hondas shouldn't even be or have a stance, they already look ugly as they are x)

I was explaining the various car-enthusiast tribes to my teenage kids, at their request. I brought up a bunch of "stance" photos and pointed out the lowness, poke, stretch, and bad camber. They didn't get it either.

Exactly this. In my opinion F34R's and Eric's cars aren't stanced at all, they are purpose built for business. Stance removes every purpose except aesthetics. My preference is for cars where form follows function, such as theirs.

Oh, and I just remembered that a stanced RSX came to an autox last year running 8* of negative camber IN THE REAR. His spring/shock combo did nothing but bounce the car around and scrape the bottom of the front bumper and his wheel wells. He had slower times than a stock Kia Rio...

                          This here is the truth.

I have more stance friends then straight BMW friends, and those friends are more knowledgeable and bigger car enthusiasts than a lot of the BMW people I've met. Just because you've seen a bad egg doesn't mean you can instantly stereotype everyone to be one.

The first e30 meet I ever went to was one of the biggest group of car idiots I have ever seen. Did that turn me away?

having busted up front body kits, dented fenders, missing trim, crap hanging all over the car, didn't count as "stance".
Your first definition is really what stance is. People take that look to extremes sometimes and combine it with other styles, but just plain old "stance" is really just that. I know that you don't like "stance", so it's good to hear you saying that definition.

I dare any of you to go over to StanceWorks (gasp!) and actually take a look at the cars that are posted as a whole. Don't just pick out a few you don't like; you'll find that probably 75% or more of the cars on there would be considered "acceptable" by your standards. Look in the build threads section and I'm sure you'll find some cars that you actually like.

I don't see my car as a stanced car. I see my car as a trackable streetcar:

It sits on bilstein's and eibach springs. Most people around here don't like my car, they see it as too low and just stupid. Same story with my friends M3:

Only other car-guys like these, because they know the mods have a function. The average joe sees the cars as stupid useless toys, sometimes that isn't fun.

I don't mind how a car looks. To each his own I always say. The only time a stanced car pisses me off is when they slow traffic to get over a speedbump.

that's funny. I wouldn't consider my car stanced either, but it's like an inch lower than that. those look like awesomely clean OEM+ style cars to me - stock looking on the outside but not ridiculous wheel gap.

any lower though, and it wouldn't be practical. I've actually thought about raising mine up a tad - the 225/50s are really close to the front fenders even in a straight line.

don't want it to catch on the fender flare and rip it off. then I would probably would be able to consider my car stanced because it'd have a messed up fender and missing trim. all I'd have to do is put some sideways stickers on the windows and put my tow hook on the front, then take some over saturated / photoshopped pictures. ;)

There is such a grey area in the word "stance." It encompasses the idiots that cut their springs and roll around on 175's on a 10" wide wheel and people like csermonet, that make a car visually appealing, all the while putting the effort into doing it correctly. However, whenever "stance" comes up people who hate it automatically assume everyone is in the first category which is down right false.

That is why I hate that word.
