I dunno, I think once E30s have been completely gone through, they don't need much beyond brakes, tires, oil, and wheel bearings. Going through them that one time, though, can be pricey, and getting a solid base is almost uneconomical these days.

If you're patient with your search, you can find something that's already set up for what you plan to do ($ saver) and stay around your budget. I present to you Exhibit A:

      Jon

P.S. How come there's no Rob option in this poll? ;)

This is not true at all, lol. Miatas can fit more tire than E30s with 500lbs less weight to lug around.

I think a non-m e36 is your best bet if you actually want something with power. If you can deal, miatas are also great track cars and will teach you a lot.

When I still had my miata I would've sucked dick to get anything wider than a 225 under my fenders. Maybe this isn't the case for NB/NC miatas... I wouldn't know since I never paid them much mind.

NA has less clearance but still can likely fit 245s with a roll... Problem is no street tires come in 245/40r15.

True. Let me revise that statement:

Miata tire fitment is crap with reasonably priced tires.

My vote is for an NB miata, but since it's not there, then I say EG Civic based on the choices you have.

Can't rave enough about EG potential. My brother has a k24 swapped, gutted EG and that is the most fun I've had in a car. The only drawback is that it is FWD, but it drives like a real go kart

Thanks, guys. I don't think there is a bad choice, just different ones.

Fox Body is nice because it has more than enough power, so I could leave the engine alone while I gut it and put in a cage, and eventually go IRS.

Miata and MR2s are both good because I wouldn't really need to touch anything other than add some safety equipment. Rubber size (heh) isn't a real issue since I'd probably be happy with stock power anyway.

The EG is my darkhorse. Lots of fun and cheap, plentiful parts. I don't mind FWD much and I could fit my spares into the back.

Decisions...have a few weeks to decide and start the search.

Plus, you could grow that mullet out to a respectable length and no one would even look twice.

How is a Foxbody cheaper to run than an E30? That's goal, right?
