Get a proper electric fan relay? If needed you can throw and override switch in as a fail safe. Can ever set up a timer for cooldowns after the car is off.

You should not need the aux (electric) fan AT ALL to keep your E30 at the correct temp unless you're actually using the AC.

Even on the hottest 110 degree California days under full load uphill or sitting in traffic my cars would NEVER pass the halfway point. So I'll stick with my advice in saying that you should never need the AUX fan to keep a car cool if the AC is not running.
