People are always saying "nice car" about my 86 535i daily. Bronzit FTW.

My e30 got some loving back in the day. Had a few people offer to buy it and cant forget all the random euro/bmw business cards they'd left on my window. Did it ever attract girls though?? hell no...

Very few comments on the road or in public. I've actually been wondering about this, and I've come up with the theory that.. it's because of the way that I look or the way that I am presenting myself. For some reason, I do not seem very approachable to some people.

Example: My wife carrying our cute, smiley 6 month son in a grocery will garner literally, hundreds of comments. Nearly every person, even racist gay bikers will stop to comment how cute the baby is.

If I carry the baby, I barely even get eyes on. People hardly even notice the baby it seems when I am holding him.

I think it goes the same way with cars.. if you look generally approachable and friendly, and the people feel comfortable talking with you, they will.. I don't think the cars matter so much.

The last comment I did receive, and this was over a year ago, was from a younger man in a brand new 2014 CLS63 AMG who literally looked stunned when he saw my car.. he was like "wow, that thing is clean" and whatnot.. that was quite a compliment, considering what he was currently driving.

I've owned my E30 for just about three months and I can already tell it gets more attention then my old E28 (which I've driven the last 4 years).

With the E28 I've had many people at gas stations strike up conversations about it, I've had workers from Taco Bell/KFC want to buy the car. I took it to a used car dealership once and I had everyone and their mom talking to me about the car. I felt like a celebrity sharing the 26 year history of the old boat in me and my families ownership. One of the salesmen there offered me 5 grand on the spot for the car. I told him it's a crackpipe with 340,000 miles worth 500 bucks but it's worth more sentimentally then the offer.

Uhh, I graduated highschool in 2014 (I know I'm getting up there ;D) and won "best car" with the E28 in the senior polls for the yearbook.

Now onto my E30 (which I'm a little more proud of to talk about since it's "technically" my first car purchase). It gets a lot of looks. Thumbs up as others stated above are usually from teens in their "stanced" civics (while I smile and awkwardly give a thumbs up back, deep down I think their ricer slammed shitbox Honda is the worst thing I've seen in my life).

I've had multiple offers to buy the car (same guy who wanted my E28 from Taco Bell/KFC now wants my E30). Some guy in a slammed VW waited outside of Qdoba to tell me "how fucking clean" my car was. When I go to Blackhawk Farms Raceway and Road America (where my father races VSCDA with his '65 Volvo 122 Amazon) many random other car enthusiasts and my fathers Datsun/Volvo/Saab friends chat me up about the car.

Overall it these old bimmers don't snap necks like a Ferrari but it feels really good when someone who knows what they are looking at appreciates the car.

I've gotten two in-person compliments on my car, ever. One was at Lime Rock last August and one was a friend of mine about two weeks ago. I think it's a nice-looking car...maybe the Cirrusblau isn't exciting enough? I try not to think about it.

I recently talked with a nice fellow in an E34 Touring with a 6spd near my work. I love myself an E34, but a Touring with a 6spd imported to America is a big deal for me.

I get compliments from people who don't know what it is... But I also get compliments from people who don't just because of how shiny she is :b

I think my car is ugly.. but I get compliments mostly from other guys at the car wash, or traffic lights, or just parked on the street. Some thumbs up and that's a clean car but it is definitely awkward most times... for me at least.

Its not constant but atleast once or twice a week at a gas station or a parking lot, someone will tell me they like the car. I get thumbs up from honda boys, euro kids, motorcycles and other random cars. Almost all the girls who have ridden in it have liked it and the one who did was a complete idiot so I wasn't the slight bit mad at that.

i picked up the E30M3 from shippers here in Denver area and within the 20miles back home received one honk/wave as a riced Lexus drove by and two other thumbs up ...got thumbs up on every drive when in WA

picked up the IX 1hr later and got nothing the same trip home, guess the M3 garners all the attention down here .i did have two notes left on the IX in Wa. asking to purchase it and one Russian sounding guy stopped and knocked on door asking if it was for sale . another guy commented once while getting gas on a snowy day that i was brave taking that nice bmw out in the snow till i told him it was AWD ...

I haven't gotten any compliments but I do live in Northern VA where if you don't own a 2010+ vehicle, you are a peasant.
