I'm here because of posts like UlrichFennec. I have a really bad memory so it's great when noobs quote a huge post with photos and nothing added. It really helps me internalize things to read them twice in a row. R3v helps me overcome my learning disabilities.

I think there is something to that. I'm 25 and have noticed that newer students at my university aren't interested in the car clubs, and the engineering car club I was captain of has had trouble recruiting new members.

I thought it was just me who was confused / couldn't see what he posted.

EDIT: He asked about the r3v window decal, inside the quoted text.

UlrichFennec, if you're reading this, PM Matt, "MR 325". He's a mod and who I got my decals from.

Sorry about that, my internet shit on me as I posted a reply asking about where you got them and I typed without thinking once the page refreshed, with it being in the quote itself. Whoops!

        Thanks for the lead!

All of the car forums I am an active member of have gone through this kind of down turn (FB seems to be a big factor, and I hate FB). I have been a member of a Fox body forum since 2002 when I got my first one, and it was super active, now it is really slow. I have built two of them since then and I'm not very active since the one I have right now is mostly done. I think that may be the case for a lot of OG members of forums, their car is done (or at least to a stage of completion) and that doesn't mean they have to come to the forums everyday looking for tips/advice/etc.

Whenever I get into a type of car I join a forum to learn about the car itself. I discovered e30's back in 2012 and really wanted to buy one, but the garage was full at the time, and I was still trying to sort my second Fox build. Finally built another garage so I have space in my shop now, and much to the Wife's chagrin I bought my first e30 last weekend. Drove it to work yesterday (60 miles round trip) and I already love the car. I expect I will be around for a while asking stupid questions if a search doesn't turn up what I need while I try to get the car to where I want it. Trying to keep this one simple though and stay away from power mods as I want a nice cruiser (we'll see how long that lasts).

Shit, I just learned FredK is technically more OG than myself.

              What the Danny?

Nando, nice input on the M20 revivals!

The E30 is becoming more of a collector car as it ages. Some people think it's the high point of BMW design. I certainly don't like where the brand has gone in recent years. As these cars appreciate in value, this forum will change as well. It may end up looking like a Porsche forum

without r3v, I never would have thought I could swap an m20, convert an auto to a manual, maintain a (mostly bulletproof) racecar, and so much more. I never even did oil changes before r3v.
And obsessions don't feel so ridiculous when shared by a community of thousands.

2003? Early 2000s as an e30 specific forum. Some og please correct me if I'm wrong. I'm sure I am.

oh man. there's a backstory. basically there was a fight between Jordan and TJ, who ran E30sport.net (the pre-r3v r3v). Anyway, Jordan had fit and decided to take his ball and go home, so he started r3v. but it was like being in Nazi Germany with Adolf Hitler running the place. I barely even remember the details of what happened but Jordan ended up being banned from his own forum, James took over, and he never really came back (good riddance).

it was October 2003. I wasn't sure I wanted to join after all the E30sport drama so that's why I have a November 2003 reg date and not October. :p

he was back. he just posted under a different name and stayed low key. i know he can be a cantankerous sort, but i consider him more of a friend than an acquaintance.... the guy would give me the shirt off his back if i asked for it. maybe he had that MMA keyboard syndrome thing going.

other than the fact some of us miss the entertainment factor on r3v, james and all of you are doing a great job maintaining an awesome forum. i am perhaps a member of 5 or 6 other forums that i use very irregularly. of those i belong to, this one is by far the best. for that, i say fuck you!-er, i mean-thank you.

                                seriously, thank you!
