The SMG isn't fun in traffic, but on a track or an open road, it's waaay better. I like my manuals, but if I were given the option to have a manual or a DCT on a modern car, it all depends on how it feels. Some cars have shitty DCTs and some cars have shitty manual gearboxes.
I want an e60 m5 now baaaad

The stickers make it go faster. :nice: -
i agree 100%, but having a sequential with paddle shifters keeps the hands on the wheels at all time, which is safer and takes less energy from the driver.it's really not that much faster. most of the time it's like 1/10th of a second, if that. I mean, really, so what? It's faster on paper - big deal. You know what's also faster than driving a manual BMW to work if you live in a big city? Public transit. Clearly, there are other reasons to drive a car like the M5...AWD > RWDComment

Agree wit this, the SMG was not fun in traffic at all when I tested it back in teh day. I would steer away from any M3 DCT. M5 I havent driven with the DCT but I hear its not much differentThe SMG isn't fun in traffic, but on a track or an open road, it's waaay better. The DCT is another animal, that thing is amazing and while my M3 is a manual I would take a DCT car.
Hell even the new 8speed Auto's in BMWs are pretty damn amazing these days.Comment
