Looks good to me, love the dedication to the build. The crazy staggered wheels are my main gripe, but it has a real Mad Max look to it.

    19x14.5 rear, 16x12 front

no, it really was never original. rusty/rat rods have been a thing for at least 50 years. The only thing original about it was being a BMW instead of an old '32 coupe or a VW bus.

you could definitely argue where the car is now is quite original. The rusty look is just for style instead of being the entire point of the car. Presumably, it will get used as intended instead of just being pretty to look at.

It would be a huge waste of money to not take it to the track

Dry sump, tube frame, push rod/cantilever, Center lock E52s, hoosier crack, proper buckets.

I want to see it on the track as well.

I like the look, and what this incarnation is. The E28 is fairly unloved, and unless they have an M badge, nobody is willing to pay cash for one. Trust me, we have gone through a few that we picked up for dirt cheap..

While I have not seen it in person, it does appear like it is legitimately built with the intention of getting on the track and turning a few laps in anger.

If anyone has a better build thread link, would love to see it.

I will respect it if it does what it was built for, but I wont hold my breath that this thing will be on the track with other Group5 cars

It'll see a track for a stanceworks photo shoot. But I bet that's all.

So being a tube frame, they can just pull the body? My first thought was, "how long does it take to change the spark plugs?"

I think the history of this car is pretty cool though. First a clean e28, loan it to a friend so they can wreck it, then end up with a platform to do whatever you want, kill it with fire, bring it back with money, and so on.
