Talk me out of buying my wife a 135i

a few days ago, my wife and i stopped by bmw of north houston to get a new key made for the daughter's e36.

while we were there, we decided to drive a few used cars. the salesman handed us the keys for an 08 m6, a '12 750i, a '13 z4, and finally a 2013 135is msport package cabrio.

the car was a hoot. we both loved it. i would have preferred a manual trans, but the dual clutch 7 speed is pretty awesome. (and i am trying not to lose sight of the fact that its for the wife)

when we got home, i did some looking on line and found this:

we test drove it today. the price is pretty decent, its loaded, it drives like a modern day e30. it really is a lovely car. the engine is the single turbo version (n55?) rather than the somewhat troublesome (n54?). seems like the only mod is a dinan cat back exhaust. it sounded much better than the 2013 we tested a few days earlier.

    what say you r3v?

      Happy wife, happy life!!

Mine got bored of the odyssey mini van and loved driving the e30 and e39.
Seemed natural to get her "her own". (2011 328i xdrive)

      Now she wants a 2002!!

Looks great, for that price I would say take a look at a 2013/14 328i with the n20, just bought one of these for my wife, and its incredible. A little bigger than this tho so maybe you want the smaller car. Either way looks like a nice deal

So buy one! But please, not in grey. Red certainly, or white, but not grey.
And a coupe, not a vert.

I want one too, but there's no way I can justify one.

N55 engine should treat you well for sure, you'll avoid some of the fun stuff that N54 folks have to deal with, such as older indexed injectors, more frequent walnut blasting, and plenty more.

Buy it. I'm not a big fan of the convertible, but it's for the wife so I understand. I almost gave up the e30 twice for a 135i/is. Good solid car and throw a jb4 tune at it and you'll be loving it. DOO ITT.

I would vote manual coupe, but I understand it's for the wife. Make HER happy.
