Yup, drive right (as in right lane, pass left, then get back in the right lane), if someone wants to drive faster than you, let them.

I work hard for 8 hours out of the day, and spend a total of 2.5-3 hours commuting. I make sure those 3 hours are as relaxing as possible.

The older I get the more I understand my Grandfather's appreciation for classical music. I find myself listening to it a lot while I drive, it sucks the stress right out of you.

Damn that's sad. No one deserves to be killed over stupid driving. Dude clearly had major issues.

Wow that's scary you mention that because I started listening to classical music while I drive just a few days ago :p

Lots of good reading here, since page one I've been paying a bit more attention to other drivers and I really have never noticed any serious hostility towards me in my e30. Then again California seems to be a cesspool of bad drivers. Best of luck to you guys out there. I don't know how you do it.

Just last week here in Albuquerque two guys got in a sword fight with there dicks because one guy cut off another in traffic. Well one coward followed the other and waited until his exit came up on the highway. He then shot at the truck and filled it with holes, killing an innocent 4 year old girl. This 4 year old girl named Lillie, was a sweetheart and had a smile that would melt your heart. Also Lillie's 10 year old brother was sitting a foot from Lillie and had to witness his sister take a bullet to the back off the head. All of this could have been avoided with courteous driving. So please take a deep breathe, put a smile on your face(shouldn't be hard to do, you're driving a BMW), and drive courteous....It can go a long way. If anyone cares, everyone local has been tying small white ribbons to there cars to remember Lillie and to promote peace/courteous driving on the road.
QFT. Courteousness is key. I read about that story too. So sad.

Instead of trying to run from the guy... as you said, take a pic of his car/license plate and possibly video his "driving" as evidence and call 311/911. I find as soon as people see a camera or phone pointed at them they either take off or start driving more appropriately. Either way works fine for me...

I'm gonna sound like a broken record here, but thats what the point of my Edit 2 was; I didn't encounter many, if any hostile drivers when I drove my e30. The e30 has long shed its image of the yuppie-mobile it once was: today, it doesn't scream opulence; it's just another old car

The only thing that changed was me driving a newer BMW (and of course, dialing my driving back way more), and I was just kinda shocked at the general change in driving atmosphere

I haven't really noticed any difference in the way people behave around me on the road with with my E30 vs my late Volvo, besides more people (vs no people) wanting to race me. Maybe I get tailgated more often. Being a motorcyclist has made me a better, safer driver over the years, it's a mentality of treating traffic like a hazard to be navigated.

Jinormus, do you a cousin or something that lives in atlanta by any chance? Yesterday a bmw about the same age as yours get all bowed up by another driver changing lanes in front of them (out of envy, clearly) and proceed to act like a 5 year old in response, nearly clipping the front of our car.

                            I immediately thought of you.
