    Wrong

However, the easiest way would be to drop it out the bottom. Put a dolly under the subframe, unbolt everything, and pick the car off the assembly. But im not really sure it would really be much easier.

I forgot to add, put the rear of the car up on jacks stands and leave the front on the ground. This will give you a better angle for pulling the engine/trans out. Having a load leveler is also a HUGE help.

Best way to pull the motor I've found so far, if you have access to a lift.

Also if you need any bottom end parts like crank, rods, or pistons if have everything out of my motor before I built it. They have around 220k on them and I have another motor with 150k but I've never heard it run, either way I'll never use the parts and they will continue to just take up space so if you pay for shipping I'll give you whatever you need.

        Best of luck

Can't figure out what happened. 290,000 miles, has been burning a lot of oil lately. But ran great. On the highway, rapid ticking heard with loss of power. Put it in neutral immediately and pulled off the road. Car stalled. I started it up , the ticking turned to knocking and lots of smoke coming from engine bay. Car is still full of oil. Head gasket? Valve? No hole in block. Never overheated. Only odd thing is that the past few months The car got 24-25 mpg. Was always 19-21.

Did it loose power over the last few months? Just for shits and giggles make sure the timing belt didn't jump from a bad tensioner. It would explain the knocking at least.

Failing oil pump is my guess. Freed up mpg by the lack of parasitic draw from pumping full oil pressure. Then the engine eventually let out the magic smoke. Once the smoke gets out, the magic stops.

Just an educated guess on the oil pump. Pop a valve cover and take a look around.

I sold you those wheels last year for your son! Haha.

Sad to hear she's given out. An oil pump failing took down my original ETA motor from my first e30 too (not the convertible).

Sorry to hear about the IX :(

However I did see someone selling an M20 out of a IX in the tristate for sale section on here might want to see if he still has it.

Don't part it out though! I parted my IX out a couple years ago after blowing the HG, the past winter I really wish I still had. It shat on subaru's in the snow it was amazing.

Don't part it! There are PLENTY of strong iX motors around if you look. Before I relocated I had a few good iX bottom ends just sitting but no one wanted them so I scrapped them.

I agree with everyone else... although...

if you decide to part, i'd like the front axles.

I agree with the others here. It appears that you have an 88 IX coupe with manual transmission? If so, I think there's a law against parting those unless they they have terminal rust.

Hold tight for a bit if you can. Someone on here has an engine I'm sure. Members 2.5.12, packratbimmer and others in the IX technical section always seem to have some of these unique IX parts laying around.
