Both wheels being evenly pushed back scares me.

Probably wouldn't have been nearly as bad if he let off the brakes just before impact with the curb. Did that once in my younger days behind the wheel of a 5.0. Spun 1st, 2nd, and the car volently cut to the left (like that BMW video). Let off the brakes just before the curb and the car hopped up with no damage.

I was only doing about 10mph on impact though... It was raining, only way a 5.0 can spin through 2nd. Budum bah.

Either way, what's done is done and its an unfortunate learning experience for you and your friend.

There is no situation where you could be driving slowly and need to lock up the brakes for a corner.

Sucks about the car Simon, the control arms are usually the first to bend, but with the wheels that far back you should check the strut towers too. And if the oil pan got taken out, check the subframe/framerails/rack too.

Also I want to add, I'm sure it's repairable. Front ends usually aren't the end of the world.

I say fixable if there is no damage on the frame. Any damage on strut tower apron ?

Ok what you really need to check is your floorpans, if that shits smashed in too much from the impact its gonna be fucked to fix.

If its just the fenders themselves that are bent you are probably fine.

My only guess would be if it was wet outside and bald tires would cause a low speed lock up situation .

I'd look strongly at where the subframe mounts to the chassis , and if the wheels went into the floorboards really bad .

Hopefully he turned off the car quickly as well to avoid engine damage .

My money is on lies. Going fast, understeered into the curb because he's a shit driver in a car that he didn't know. Totalled to an insurance company for sure, but he's obligated to pay for your car to be fixed, not cut you a lowball check for KBB value like an insurance company will try to. You would've paid for it if you wrecked his truck... right?

It's fixable. Judging by the pictures alone, you probably have no frame/support damage so that's a plus. The parts needed to be replaced are just the ones you mentioned + the subframe. Shouldn't be too bad of a fix.

First rain in SoCal in YEARS!. Tires werent bald, but Im suspicious about age. I wont be able to see the car until after the shop checks it out, Im too far away at the moment, so I will just wait until the cars on a lift to see what the next step is.

blind accusations much? My friend has owned several E30s and is a better driver than me. Shit happens. Im not worried about his capacity to pay. He has already offered me 10k and I turned it down.

Im feeling more and more confident that once its up in the air, we will get some good news. I guess thats me just trying to be optimistic. I already have a backup plan Im working on if I am given bad news, and my friend already told me he will buy that car if we get bad news.

He is a good friend and has owned up to his fuck up, and I value that more than losing some money after this is all over.

Awh dammit Simon. Sorry to see this.
My brother locked his brakes on a turn when someone pulled in front of him and hit a curb and had the same damage minus the wheels punching the fenders.
CA and tie rod was all he needed.

Hoping for the best. Yourself, Ryan, and I still have some drives to go on.

That's my fear, and what it almost looks like to me, like where the control arm mounts is pushed into the floorboard. We did that real bad on one side hitting a rut in a desert wash at ~50ish mph in a lifted E30, exactly what it looked like. If you can push the clutch pedal down though that is a good sign.
