Thats a REALLY nice car. If I were to buy that, I might have to resist the temptation to do anything to it and just drive it exactly as is and just do maintenance.
There cannot be that many cars left in that condition that haven't been fucked with.
My old 325es was exactly like that. Completely unmolested.
Selling that car continues to be one of my biggest automotive regrets.
I sold it when I bought my first E30M3. Big mistake.

I dunno, if the right guy is wanting a fairly almost virgin E30 on "this week",,, it could go for that.
I'd pay $15 for that car in that condition, if I was looking to add a car.
As I said, there cannot be that many of them left in this condition considering all the tens of thousands of various atrocities that have been committed to E30s in the past 3 decades.

        I don't think its retarded.
I wrestled with this same thing for a while in the E30 M3 market. I hated that the cars were escalating so far upward in price (I still do) but all the years of cheap E30s (and E30 M3s) has drained the pool.

Think about for how many years one could buy the nicest E30 for $7K and a really nice E30 M3 for $15K. The lesser nice cars scaling downward.
Those almost 20 years at those prices drained the pool. And because they were cheap,,, people did unspeakably stupid things to them making them almost impossible to ever go back to being just a nice E30 or E30M3.

There are so few nice unmolested ones left of any E30 model (318, 318is, 325, es, is, M3 you name it) that the remaining nice ones are going to sell for more money.

              I'd guess about fourteenkay.

On a serious note, I also have noticed a few inconsistencies such as the prem. sound tweeters, yet the rear shelf speakers are the basic ones.

It'll be interesting to see where this one goes. I think the E30 M3 market has cooled off somewhat this year. My guess is that most of the mid-to-high mile driver-condition cars weren't getting the big dollar sales that many owners thought they deserved after seeing a few collector-grade cars go for $50k+

That said, they will never be $15k cars again but I don't see the "average" e30 m3 deserving $40k. There's just too many good, collectible cars in that price range. As much as I love the E30 M3, I don't think they are "worth" the recent market spike. I'm hoping they level off a bit more.

Neither did I until I saw their name discreetly painted on the door of the warehouse. I wondered if it was them or some little towing company going by the same name. Now I know :)
