The struggles and trials of something breaking and having to fix them is what makes the E30 experience fun to me. Gives me something to be proud of when everything is fixed.

Exactly. Think about how much car you're buying even at these prices compared with what's available new or slightly used. These cars have been and still are a huge bargain. ;D

Could the reason for the value of E30's skyrocketing is people pay these ridiculous asking prices and another seller sees that and assumes he can get away with a similar asking price and the cycle repeats itself over and over. Seems that's what's been happening. Also the fact that these cars are slowly getting harder to find in good stock examples doesn't help.

I've never seen this plate under the transmission. Do you have any more info on it? Is it OEM or just a skitplate for the trans?

It's OEM. My 88 has it too.
