Why don't you just take a loss and refund her money or pay for return shipping and be done with it? Seems to be a better option that having her harass you.
Has anybody been in contact with Luke (stereoinstaller1) recentley?

Let's not forget the lack of communication. Luke is an asset to the community and we appreciate that but when you're wrong, you're wrong. Regardless if paypal's policy says she should pay for shipping the product back to you, can you honestly say you feel right about that?

I have not once lied to her, I have not once threatened her, I have not once harassed her in any way. Am I happy about this? No, I'm not. I rather she have the understanding that when I tell her "I don't know when it will be done, I cannot make a promise on a schedule for a car I do not possess" that she would accept that, instead of calling me a liar and harassing me, publicly.
Believe me, I have other options outside of this business. She, nor anyone else gains if I go down. Remember she lost her claim already, right?
If I had it to pay her, I would have. I did others. Having to scramble to find a new shop, build a functional work space all while building cars and working 7 days a week trying to just catch up for months on end. I worked at finding a model car, which is not an easy thing. It took years before, she expects me to pop it out in a month. I found it, and way beyond my control, it got wrecked. Now I have another lined up, hopefully I can pull it together and ship her a new box...because now I sure as hell don't have money to send.
BTW, legally, I don't owe her a thing. You are aware of that, correct? Ill still send her a new box if I am still in business. I still want her kid Ethan (notice he hasnt said anything?) to have a great looking and terrific sounding system, especially since her late husband was such a fan.
None of this, however, excuses her behavior. Im behind schedule, due to circumstance beyond my control, but she appears to be committing a felony.
So yeah...I'm delusional.Comment

Sorry Luke but you are being foolish by not scraping together the few dollars it would take to get her to ship that box back to you. The more you continue to drag this out and stand your ground the more customers you will lose. All those bills you have backed up are going to get a lot harder to pay when the orders stop rolling in because of this whole shit show.
From what you are saying it sounds like you are just hanging on with respect to GAS, don't let pride, anger, or PayPal policy run you out of business.

You could, of course, offer to help, instead of criticizing me. You've seen hundreds of people talk about my products, you know we rarely make mistakes.
If I cant get this together, if sales don't step up, I don't have a choice, I have to walk away.Comment

How about you just sell something you don't use to pay for the shipping? the situation would be done and really you wouldn't be stealing money from something else to pay for that cause your selling that object just pay for shipping. The more you personally drag this out the more she will slander your name and ruin your business. Be a man pay shipping and sweep this shit under the rug. At this point your just being childish. Any company out there would of just stepped up and paid for it rather than continue to watch there name get drug through the mud.Comment

Jesus fucking Christ dude. You have a business that appeals to a niche of a niche of a dying market for 30+ year old cars. Being a public dumbass on a major forum dedicated to that market, in the case where you're the one who's wrong seems like a really odd tact to take if one had any pretense of attempting to continue in that market.Swing wild, brake later, don't apologize.'89 324d, '76 02, '98 318ti, '03 Z4, '07 MCS, '07 F800s - Bonafide BMW elitist prick.FYYFFComment

This is sad.
The amount of business you are losing (and will continue to lose the longer this shit show carries on for) from this thread is not worth the $100 to pay for return shipping. Bite the bullet and send a return label. It's just part of doing business.Comment

The reason people shop big box stores and online only shops these days is for the price. People that give a damn will actually pay the premium to do business with a small time shop for more for the customer service; which you seem to lack, Luke.
The only thin attacking your business is you at this point.Comment

So wait, did she order the wrong box for the car (flip down seats vs. stationary seats), or is the box the incorrect dimensions and will not work in any car?
If the box is good, why not have her ship it to a new buyer at a "like new" rate to the new buyer? Or shit, if the box is bad, sell it as "Free + shipping" to someone else? Either way, the box is gone, neither of you had to pay for it, it's all settled.
That being said, I still plan to buy an e30 box when I get around to prioritizing creature comforts over performance upgrades.sigpic
