I just switched to Geico. 15 minutes really did save me 15% or more on my car insurance.

I pay $27/mo for liability. No accidents & no tickets on record, btw, I'm 22.

So, I am trying to understand what you are saying about them putting your iX on a dyno-did they understand that doing so would do serious damage to the transfer case?
well prolly not... but they didnt know it was 4wd i guess. i suppose they though i was kidding...

yeah im gunna see what state farm and geico can do for me. hopefuly something like 27 dollars a month....

i dont understand why poeple think e30 bmw's should cost alot in car insurance. most if them are pretty reliable, safe parts are decently cheap.. i mean they have abs and stuff like that. and they arnt real fast eather and they handle good. why not charge more on a pos like a... geo. or somthing unsafe and unreliable and doesnt drive well.

The thing is that the majority of the body panels and other parts are still the same price as they were years ago, if not a bit more due to inflation. Cheap car, expensive parts-that's how the insurance company decides on the premiums.

There are few things more expensive than a cheap BMW...

I really wouldnt want to invest in full coverage. Our cars are not really that valuable and theyd more than likely total it as is, or give nowhere near the value. Well not at least for what I was quoted. 2250 a year with the gecko for full coverage on my 318is. Im not going to pay half the value of the car every year. Id rather save that cash and if I need to buy a new car cause I r3v'd it, so be it, it was my fault anyway and probably deserve it.

well cheer up little buddy. when i first bought my 1991 318i i was paying just shy of $380 month for just liability through Geico! (I had 50K per person 100K per accident for coverage). granted I also had 4 speeding tickets. but whos counting right? and i work at Allstate insurance (that's my favorite part of the story :D ). After almost a year that nonsence, all but one of the tickets fell off during the same renewal period and i turned 21 shortly thereafter, so my rates dropped to below $100 per month. but then I wanted to have comprehensive (fire, theft, vandalasm, broken windshield/windows, windstorm, animal damage, etc) so i got that little bit and now pay just under $110 a month.

Point is, 200 bones isn't too bad for a dude your age and an E30. Insurance is a necessarry evil I'm afraid. So get married or get good grades and your rates will drop. Or hurry up and turn 21 or 25.

was paying $4000 a year. Now it's down to $2000 a year after:

                      - switching the car to my mom's name
                      - taking 15 units at school
                      - switching insurance. (state farm -> AMEX)
                      R.I.P 07/01/09 - 04/23/10 :(
