I really hope you aren't fretting over a brick coming through your 25 year old car's windshield.

Bricks are not the only object/hazard.

Your numbers are not only generic, but they are off by quite a bit. Yes it is an unlikely situation, but why would you dismiss it?

And again, why do you seem to keep bringing up a 25 year old car as if thats relevant???

Have you ever been driving on the freeway and found yourself behind an old rickety trailer filled with junk or next to a loaded down pick-up truck that didn't seem safe? This year alone, motorists have lost at least 5,000 items along Twin Cities freeways according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

Hey look! Its not a brick! Wooooowww and its documented!

An elderly man was struck in the neck and killed by an unidentified object while driving northbound on U.S. Highway 101 in Menlo Park early Friday afternoon.

Sorry no one is taking you very seriously op. It's just that, well......no one is taking you seriously.

Personally, I have lots of other stuff that I could chose to worry about that is way more important(or likely) than this if I so desired. You know....like losing my nutsack to a rabid dog or getting my wiener inadvertently chopped off in a carrot slicer. Lol.

I just don't forsee any valid purpose for going apeshit over something as isoteric as this. Sorry man. I respect you for your opinion though. Does that help?

Little known fact: the 1988 Mazda RX-7 has the thinnest windshield glass of any passenger car sold in the United States since the advent of tools accurate enough to measure such things.

Yup. This sort of thing falls under "freak accident". Unless you want to be a bubble boy, there isn't really much sense of trying to prevent it, or worrying about it. It's so unlikely to happen, to put so much focus on preventing such a thing is just silly. You're actually more likely to be killed in a regular car accident than you are a brick through the window. You could avoid that by staying in your house all day, but then you might be killed by a freak gas explosion. And so on and so forth.

Forget about it and move on.

The bulletproof glass on the 7 series is like 1" thick. it also weighs a freaking ton.

                      you got that right. ;)

nobody is going to make their e30 into a zombie hunter vehicle
because of almost 0 chance of high energy flying brick like objects on the road.

caging the windshield is all you can do for that.

There is a hurricane grade glass for windows. You can contact the manufacturer to see if they can mold it into E30 windshield shape. It would cost more than one 7 series for sure, but if you have the money then go for it.

Owned 2 '88 Rx7's (one GXL one TII) along the years of my former 5 RX-7 lineage.
I never experienced as more than one single bird strike. Yet my E30 seems to be a goddamn debris magnet. A piece of 2X4 took out my old windshield, a year later I already have 4 severe chips and a million micro chips.

you might also consider installing a cattle guard while your at it... in case you hit a stray shopping cart

my statistics were based off a quick google search of reputable government backed data. Super generic, because I didn't think I needed to spend enough time to actually validate that you are over reacting. I will let the thread's responses do that for you.

Older cars (e30's) do not have laminated glass. It makes a huge difference. Modern cars utilize better glass. Pretty cut dry reasoning.
Try a nice glass of warm milk before bed, I have heard it is calming.
